Hobart

This is a city where you can walk around most of the central business district and the waterfront. Buses are readily available to most suburbs.

A taxi is an excellent option when time is short. It allows you to get to say the Botanic Gardens or Cascade Brewery & Gardens in a short time. You save your walking until you get to the site. A taxi ride along the waterfront, Salamanca Place,  through Battery Point , Sandy Bay to Wrest Point  is an excellent option. 

A rental car or a hire car is another option. This will depend on what you want to do, how much spare time you have.
