Bus
There is only one company that provides bus services in and around Cairns - Sunbus. They go as far north as Palm Cove, and as far south as Gordonvale and it is a "hail and ride" service. That means, if you stick your hand out along the bus route, the driver should pull over for you! Day passes are much better value than single tickets and they are valid for 24 hours. If you buy a ticket at 6pm it is valid until 6pm the next day.
There are 3 zones:
- Zone 1 is the city centre, including Whitfield, Mooroobool, Bayview and Coconut Resort
- Zone 2 extends to Yorkey's Knob, Smithfield, Centenary Park and Edmonton
- Zone 3 includes the nortern beaches up to Palm Cove and south to Gordonvale.

Zone 1 - Day pass: $6.10 Weekly Pass: $22.00, Monthly Pass: $79.00, Family 24 hour ticket: $13.80
Zone 2 - Day pass: $7.45, Weekly Pass: $27.50, Monthly Pass: $99.00, Family 24 hour ticket: $16.50
Zone 3 - Day pass: $9.90, Weekly Pass: $38.50, Monthly Pass: $121.00, Family 24 hour ticket: $22.00
