“Excellent Hotel”

The Westin Seattle

Aug 16, 2008

Stayed here in August. Enjoyed the stay. Hotel is centrally located - I walked to the man tourist spots like the Space Needle, Pikes Market, and even walked to the Mariners baseball game one night. Hotel is very ellegant and has clean/comfortable rooms. Would recommend to anyone, singles, couples, or families with kids. Tood several photos of my room and view from the 17th floor. Take a look.

Stayed here on a business trip. Loved the hotel. It's well situated on the west end of the downtown core. The view from my room was truly spectacular.

Excellent bed, desk and bathroom.

Great lounge in the lobby and walking distance to many restaurants.

“Disappointed!”

The Westin Seattle

3 of 5 stars
Bremerton, Washington
Aug 10, 2008

My sister booked this via her SPG. they didnt seem to like that. Check in time is 3 pm and we had dropped our stuff of earlier so we could shop comfortably and the check in clerk was annoyed when we came back after 4 to see if the room was ready. I guess we were supposed to walk around Seattle until they called. When we got to the room on the 35th floor, the card keys didnt work so my sister went back down to get help and the check in clerk was rude and stated. It isnt me, its the room. She reactivated the card keys and my sister went back up to the 35th floor and and they still didnt work. She told us she would send security up asap to see what was going on. 30 mins later my sister called down to the front desk, and they finally sent someone up. The young security guard came up, asked for ID (we werent sure if he knew who he was looking for, or if the id told him something) and he tried the keys. and nope they didnt work. He let us in, and told us to wait someone would bring us working keys, which took about another hour. We were hoping to have time to get in our room drop stuff off and then go eat and enjoy the pool but our time was now limited. The Pool was small, and barely had any clean towels and the hot tub was crowded with partiers. Internet access and phone access is 16 dollars for 24 hours which is pricey if you ask me. good thing we had our cell phones! We had to walk around to find something to eat, because there wasnt anything in the room with recommendations. There is also no vending machines, with soda so head on over to drugstore on the corner for drinks and snacks beforehand. I couldnt find any. When we finally went to bed I pulled my back comforter only to find bloodstains on the blankets! I was appalled. They either one, didnt clean the sheets from the stay the night before, or they dont check their linens for stains. I would expect this in a dive hotel not one with a name like Westin. I had already crawled in them at this point, and I was thoroughly disgusted. I had to pull that blanket off as it was 11 at night, and make do with what I had. I had always wanted to stay here and I was hoping to walk away with raving reviews but I dont. Spend your money elsewhere and if you get booked here for some reason, check your linens before you get in bed!

Management Response
GMSeattle, general manager
(Management representative)

Dear sonnysmom
My name is Elisabeth James. I am the general manager at The Westin Seattle and was apalled to read of your experience at our hotel. Please accept my sincere apologies for the many problems you experienced. While our rooms availability for check-in is sometimes negatively impacted by a late departure, it is our responsibility to ensure that we communicate clearly to you if there will be a delay so that you may plan your time accordingly. It is unacceptable that you had repeated problems with your guest room keys. We have found that one of our key machines was malfunctioning and miscoding keys. This has been repaired and hopefully will not recur.
The security officer was correct in verifying your identification before opening the room for you. The safety and security of our guests is paramount and we will never let someone into an occupied room without verifying that it is indeed the registered guest.
There is a charge for internet in our guestrooms, however many of our guests choose to use the complimentary internet access in our lobby.
We are proud of our Westin Heavenly Beds and want you to enjoy a renewing night's sleep so clearly your experience with stained bed linens is completely unacceptable. I do wish you had contacted us immediately so that we could have corrected this problem but I understand that it was late and you had already had too many frustrating experiences for one day.
I hope you will contact me directly so that I may apologize personally and attempt to recover with you. We would certainly appreciate an opportunity to redeem ourselves on your next visit to Seatttle,

“Awesome Location, Nice Hotel”

The Westin Seattle

4 of 5 stars

The Westin location is perfect for exploring the city. Several blocks from Pikes Market and a short walk to the monorail (takes you to Space Needle) makes the location very good. Seattle is very hilly, but the blocks are relatively small so walking around is not too bad.

It's interesting to see all the shops and buildings, that you can keep walking and then realize you're 15 blocks away from the Westin! Better to catch a taxi for longer distances.

We got to the hotel early and were given keys immediately, much to my surprise and happiness. We were on the SPG floor, which really doesn't mean much except that they leave a bowl of apples near the elevator for guest to take.

Linens and bath accessories are all great, what you've come to expect from the Westin. However, I stayed in this hotel twice within a 2 week period and both times they didn't leave enough towels in the room. I had to call housekeeping to have them deliver.

Parking is VERY expensive in the city and in this hotel. I don't know why they have to charge so much, but what else can a guest do? On my second visit, I took the Greyhound Bus to the airport (Sea-Tac) which, for the price, it is a steal compared to a taxi ride. I would recommend it highly. It picks you up right outside the hotel.

We ate at the top of the Space Needle. The food was not that outstanding for the price, but it does include a free trip up to the observation deck with the meal. Plus, you don't have to wait in line to go up with everyone else. For this reason, I think it was worth it.

The best meal we had in Seattle was at the Canlis restaurant. The food and service were outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant for a nice night out (coats highly recommended). Ask for a seat next to the window for the view.

“Great hotel!”

The Westin Seattle

Aug 1, 2008

This is a great hotel and especially at the low, low price of $139.00 from Priceline in the summer on a weekend. I was a bit reluctant because when you book on Priceline you don't know the hotel until you have basically paid a non-refundable night(s). Also since I think it rated at only 3.5 stars I was wondering if it would be up to my neat freak standards. YES, it was! The staff was very attentive and handed me water bottles the minute I walked in after my morning runs. They also had small pocket laminated running route maps at the concierge desk. The concierge knew everything! Pool is a little on the stuffy, chlorinated side since it is inside but still nice. Our room had the most wonderful view of the city, harbor and space needle. I think it was the best view at the hotel, room 4632. Our room was immaculate and we loved the in-room Starbucks coffee and tea. I really can't think of any negatives about our stay at the Westin. It is also perfectly located. We walked to Whole Foods and bought food to go since we have young kids and the hotel even brought up a mini-frig at our request at no charge.

    • Disliked — A/C would only go down to 65 degrees, not cold enough to sleep for me and the kids
