I spent 5 days at the Hilton Times Square in July 2008 with my girlfriend.
The hotelis located just next to Times Square in 42nd Street above the Madam Tussaud's museum. The street is one of the busiest streets in New York being a kind of continuation of Times Square, featuring a lot of lights and tourist attractions (Tussaud's, various Broadway theaters, Ripley's believe it or not, etc..).
The infrastructure of the hotel or not nice. Small reception and a one in all room including night bar, breakfast dining room, located on 22nd floor of the building.
We had booked a King bed Deluxe room and found our selves located in a King bed Standard room on the 23rd floor with the view of the air conditioning of the building attached to the Hilton but 22 floor tall, completely blocking our room view, eventhough the room was big and very nice.
After complaining, I was told to have patience for one night and that on the following day I would have been moved to a Deluxe room with the hotel apologies.
On the following day, I was moved to a King bed Deluxe room, a bigger and better room, located on the 44th floor, top floor, and a corner view!!! Spent 4 nights in this room and the choice of this hotel is more than valid just for the view! Amazing New York skyline and lights of 42nd and Broadway were there for us!
Breakfast was not included, therefore I cannot judge eventhough Hilton usually has very nice breakfasts.
I can though comment on the price. I spent 399 $ plus taxes per night which sumed up to 457 $ per night, which is a considerable amount. New York, especially in July, is very expensive, adn other less fancy hotels weren't that chepaer but this money wouldn't have been worth it, if I was staying on the 23rd floor.
If I go back to New York I would though change location and not stay in the center. Too busy and crowded and will drive you crazy after a couple of days.
I recommend it for the view if first time in New York!
