“The Good, The Bad (not so good), and the Ugly”

Bellagio Las Vegas

I have mixed "emotions" about the Bellagio - First,

The (Very) Good

-Paid a very reasonable price - about $142 per night (without tax) with a AAA discount:

-Quiet room and I slept like a baby:

-Newly renovated room showing no signs of wear - large and comfortable:

-Lovely facility - is "classier" than the majority of other hotels on the Strip:

-Great pool ambience - no kids screaming, drunks yelling, etc

The Bad (Not so good)

-No coffee or tea in the room - I'm sure Bellagio wants us to pay the greatly inflated prices for beverages offered in its various establishments:

-No body wash in bathroom - again - I'm sure Bellagio wants us to pay for this in the varios "spa" related stores in the hotel

The Ugly (Very, Very Bad)

-I have never witnessed the kind of mass chaos evident in Bellagio's lobby during the check-in process. Hoards of humanity waiting to be checked in by an obviously inadequate amount of hotel check-in personnel. I waited over 45 minutes to get my chance to check-in - I felt as if I were in a bag check-in line at the airport. Horrific and unecessary. The check-in personnel acknowledge the persistent problem and have alerted management - to no avail apparently.

Overall, I liked Bellagio. My room was quiet and comfy. The facility was well-maintained. I walked through every hotel on the Strip and the only other resorts comparable (in my opinion) were the Wynn Las Vegas, The Palazzo, and Caesars Palace. Aside from the brain damaging experience at check-in, I would return - provided that I, again, could receive a low nightly hotel rate. I would not pay $200 a night or more for a room here - then again, I would not pay $200 a night or more for any room in Las Vegas.

P.S. - Go and see Cirque's Love at the Mirage - it's amazing for those who lived through Beatlemania and those (such as me) who weren't born in time!!!!

“Birthday trip.....”

Bellagio Las Vegas

Just returned from celebrating my 40th Birthday in Vegas with friends.

Decided on the Bellagio due to location and recommendations. Despite some of the previous reviews about check-in, on our arrival (4pm on a Friday) we only had to wait a few minutes to check in and get our room allocated. We decided against the $50 upgrade trick, and had pre booked lake view rooms (worth every penny).

We found all the staff to be friendly (with the exception of the manager of the Bank club). The dealers at the blackjack tables varied in personalities from 'normal' to major entertainers. Never any air of snobbery and alway happy to help you. The waitresses were efficient around the tables too.

We eat at Olives one night, the reviews between our group varied from fantastic to dissappointed. The hotel bars are great, especially the terrace of the Fontana Bar.

The pool area is good, however it does get very busy and finding a sun lounger did get difficult. There are several large jacuzzi's which were fun to sit in with a pool side beverage!

The hotel is very grand and luxurious and the fountain show really the most impressive show on the strip.

Booked 'O' directly at the hotel on the night we wanted to see it, however only limited view seats were available at this stage. Despite the hype it wasn't really our thing and we'd wished we gone for a musical instead.

I've heard stories of the hotels pumping oxygen into rooms to keep the punters going. This seemed to ring true as we all struggled getting a goods nights sleep, depite the comfy beds. Maybe we were too hyped up or jet lagged?

In all a great hotel and having compared with most of the others on the strip we felt really pleased at having made this choice. We would return each day and instantly feel back at home.

Highly recommend the helicopter tour of the grand canyon. Expensive but an awesome experience.

My wife and I stayed at the Bellagio for a week this September for a wedding which took place at the Venetion hotel. The staff did tell us about the rules for the mini bar which was no problem at all. The hotel was definately value for money as the dollar / pound worked to our advantage, also we did get some complimentary beverages on our third visit to the cafe. I would certainly recommend room service as after a hard day walking being fed and watered in your room is a great relief. The cost of the room service was fine a meal for 2 (burger & chips) and a salad for the wife inc drinks came 2 £18.00 approx all delivered to the room on a big laid out table. Regarding the tipping a dollar here and there (50 pence) was not a problem for the waitress / cleaning lady but for the guys getting a taxi for you which was going to pull up anyway a bit much when we were using cabs all the time, but a minor moan. I did like the facility of veiwing your room bill on the room TV so you could keep a check on what was charged to your room I might add nothing that I did not recieve was charged. There is a safe in the room that is free so valuables are secure. I always leave a small amount of money on the dresser top which will be the tip for the cleaner at the beginning of the week to see if it stays there till the end of the week as a test. As I expected nothing was touched. the buffet was worth the money about £15-00 each for the evening meal, it was quality food of all different types eat as much as you want. If you are going for a show I would definately recommend the Platters, coasters and the Marvallettes at The Sahara my hands were sore from clapping everybody was stood up in the isles singing. The show is good for all ages. I went to the grand canyon with The Grand canyon Tour Company by coach our driver was "Tommy" the trip was superb don't beleive the bad comments about this company you might see.The Venetion hotel is of the same quality as the Bellagio and yes we did a gondola ride along the canal as part of the wedding parade.

“Excellent value”

Bellagio Las Vegas

Having traveled to Vegas many times we never stayed at the Bellagio in the past but instead always booked a 5* through Priceline for around $120-150. Stayed Sept 27-29. I have always wanted to stay there and found a last-minute deal directly through the hotel website for $179/night. I was thrilled with the property, the pools, the service, and the location. When we wanted our room cleaned, we called and they came to do it while were at Breakfast, at the pool, whenever we wanted.

They are quick with drinks if you are gambling and the Fall display in the atrium is beautiful. Even though we had a "cheap" room without a sunken living area that they call a "suite" at the Venetian or Palazzo, we did have a limited view of the strip and fountains, which was very nice. Go the the ABC store across the street in the Miracle Mile shops to buy bottled water and for cocktail ingredients unless you want to pay $9/liter for Figi or $18 for a margarita at the pool. I was expensing everything but if I had been paying I would have definitely cut some corners with beverages. Watch out for the Salon, they wouldn't quote me a price for a service up front and afterward found out it was $150 for a single process color.

The Bellagio lived up to all the hype. We will definitely be back if we can get rates less than $200.

I have just returned from the Bellagio and have had a quick look at the reviews, and cannot believe some of them, how can anyone say that this Hotel is awful, and the staff are rude. I talked and dealt with a lot of staff and they were all great, the pool and rooms are great..the only bad stuff i saw were customers being very rude to the staff and moaning about small things. Seems that some people are very demanding.
On a lighter note the hotel is very clean and tidy, all public areas are spacious and well kept , pool beautiful.
The thing i liked about the Bellagio staff is that they treat every customer equally, and some customers going there don't seem to like this, if they could wear a Gucci tee shirt saying "rich & in a suite, and can afford a cabana" I'm sure they would.
