What a great place to stay! Everything you need is all under one roof. Lots of restaurants, and a whole mall. The casino was very clean and not smoky. The rooms seem to have all been renovated and are very nice. We got the star strek room, overlooking the Bellagio fountains (paid $20 more per night for the view). I'm not 100% sure it was worth the upgrade, but it was definitely neat the first night to watch the fountains.

The location within the Strip is perfect. Very close to high-end hotels and some lower-end casinos (good for $5 blackjack and things like that).

The pool was nice, never had a problem getting chairs and it was clean and relatively quiet. Slow service, but there is a bar outside so you can just go get your own drinks if you're in a hurry.

Our only compaint was that check-in took about 45 minutes. On the up-side though, we arrived around 11am and did not have to wait for our room to be ready.

The timeshare sales people are definitely all over the place, but a quick "No thanks" seemed to keep them at bay, they weren't overly pushy.

Planet Hollywood has an excellent location in the middle of the strip so you can walk towards either end and only be about 15-20 minutes away from it all.

Rooms are fairly good sized, though a bit strange as far as the overall configuration. A bit confusing to find the elevators until you get used to it. Definiltely a party type atmosphere in the casino, so deflinitely better suited for a younger aged crowd.

Did not eat at any of the major restaurants which are franchises of big name resaurant. Tried the "Earl of Sandwiches" next to the sportsbook which I must say was excellent. Fresh baked and made to order sandwiches definitely better than the norm.

Casino was good sized, though could use more tables in my opinion. Most of our group did not gamble there, though the 1 person who did, won a good amount. Personally I preferred next door at Paris/Bally's or walked to Venetian.

Overall, if you get a good deal, it is more than worth the money.

“Disappointing”

Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino

Stayed many times at the Aladdin and enjoyed it. We hoped Planet Hollywood would be even better.
The service was very poor.
-valet always backed up - 20 minute waits
-maids left the door open, never brought promised water
- received newspaper about half the time
- room service always 1 hour behind
- persistent elevator problems
- No pool access from the north towers
While the casino and main hotel areas are very nice the rooms have not been improved and are very dark. Our door didn't close properly. As others have commented time-share people jumped in front of us every time we got off the elevator. ATM's rarely worked. Gambled a lot and received a paltry $14 credit.
The pool area has not been improved and has horrible loud music which you can't escape. Target audience is obviously 18-21!

“Planet Hollywood....NOT Out of This World!”

We were excited to try out the new PH experience on our recent visit to Las Vegas.

On arrival I asked the front desk clerk if there was any possibility of a complimentary upgrade to our pre-booked deluxe room. She gave us two options – either a refurbished smoking-permitted room (we had requested non-smoking), or a disabled-access room, with a lower-access bathtub. Front desk assistance was polite, but not especially friendly. We arrived at about 8pm and there was no line at the desk.

We chose the smoking room as I wanted to try out the deep soaking bathtubs. It did smell! However, as we didn’t plan to spend too much time in the room, we weren’t too bothered.

On the plus side, we were on the 34th floor, with a fantastic view south on the strip towards Mandalay Bay and the MGM Grand. From looking at their website, we were allocated a ‘Hollywood Hip’ room, with memorabilia from the movie ‘Good Will Hunting’ in the display coffee table. We had a large LCD television and a super-comfortable king-size bed.

I also agree with the other reviews which comment on the poor in-room lighting. There is no overhead light in the room, only table lamps. This is definitely an issue if you have to pack your case during the hours of darkness!

I didn’t care much for the décor in the public areas. The hallways reminded me of the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland (something about the black doors with white frames and big metal knockers)!! Of course, this is down to personal taste – you may love it….

One problem we did have (and, looking at some of the other reviews, we were not alone), was that we kept getting static shocks when in our room. This was very unpleasant! I suspect this is related to the high nylon content in the carpeting.

The $13.99/day internet access charge is ridiculous, when you think that it comes free in a lot of basic US hotel chains.

We had room service dinner on one evening. It was of average quality, and expensive. Two steak sandwiches, a couple of beers and Cokes, and one dessert cost us just under $80 before the tip. The dessert delivered was not what we had ordered.

We used the Valet parking service during our stay. This hotel has the ugliest entrance area I’ve seen on the strip. As mentioned by another review, you come in through a concrete underground parking area. There is no facility to call down to the Valet desk to request your vehicle, so you have to go down and wait there until they bring your car. We waited an average of 30 minutes each time for them to retrieve our car. We were not impressed.

Timeshare people were everywhere. We were accosted before we even got to the elevators on the night we arrived! We quickly got used to saying ‘no thanks’ and keeping walking – it’s the most useful phrase you can learn for a trip to Vegas! We did get drawn in to a conversation with one timeshare guy on the last day of our trip. He was most unpleasant when we said we had better ways to spend the final hours of our trip than on watching his presentation. Don’t listen to the ‘free-stuff’ sales pitch – you have better things to do in Vegas!

We didn’t enjoy the PH casino either. Constant loud music, very smoky atmosphere and a deliberately confusing layout. I thought that the ‘Pleasure Pit’ area of the casino was simply tacky – lots of Barbie-pink velour in the décor, dealers in their underwear (unsurprisingly all women!), and scantily clad girls dancing on platforms behind the gaming tables. If I want to go to a strip club, I will. I don’t need or want to have to run the gauntlet of that kind of entertainment to get to my hotel room!

Choice of hotel is a personal thing. We couldn’t say that the service was awful or that the rooms were dirty, we simply didn’t like the vibe in this place. Others, I’m sure will disagree. We had a great trip to Las Vegas, but couldn’t wait to get out of the Planet Hollywood. All our waking time was spent in all the other terrific casinos on the Strip.

Location of the hotel is excellent, just in the middle of the strip and opposite to the Bellagio. In fact, some of the rooms have views to the famous fountains.
Rooms are huge, with extremely comfortable beds and a very big flat screen TV. Only con is that they are quite dark, especially at night, as the lighting is indirect and insufficient.
Bathrooms are very big too, with both a shower and an bathtub. The WC is in a separate area, as in France, which is something that I always appreciate.
The worst part of the hotel is the one related with housekeeping and cleanless:
1. First, because maids used to knock the door (and even get into the room) always at 8 am, which is not very reasonable in a place like Las Vegas, that lives at night and where normally people go bed late.
2. Secondly, because our bathroom wasn't cleaned during our 4 days stay -they just replaced the towels-, totally inadmissible in a hotel such this one.
However, we get a ridiculous rate through Expedia? (or a similar website, I don't remember), that doesn't allow-me to complain so much.
