“Wonderful...just wonderful!”

Desert Rose Resort

5 of 5 stars
Berkhamsted, UK
Nov 11, 2008

We stayed at the Desert Rose for 5 nights at the end of October/beginning of November and don't have a single criticism about them.
Every staff member we met, from the reception staff to the cleaning staff were polite, friendly, courteous and eager to help us as much as they could. They didn't even get grumpy when we decided to book in for an extra night and then changed our minds about which night that would be...twice! (We were originally going to tack an extra night on to the end of our initial stay but then decided to have the extra night after we got back from our 2 nights in Death Valley)
Our suite (standard king) was spacious, clean, well maintained, quiet and homely, the bed large and comfortable and everything we could have possibly needed in the kitchen (other than food, obviously) was provided for us. It really did feel like a home from home. The cleaning staff were prompt and efficient, every evening we returned to a clean and tidy set of rooms, they even put our dirty coffee mugs in the dishwasher on the one occassion we left them out.
We had heard poor reviews of the breakfast buffet so avoided it for our first two mornings but on the third day we decided to give it a go, my boyfriend sallied forth and returned to our room with seeded bagels, ham, hard boiled eggs, cream cheese & mayonnaise, we then used our own facilities to toast the bagels and make them up ourselves. These were so tasty and such a resounding success that this is what we did every morning for the rest of our stay so I have to say that we disagree with the other reviewers about the breakfast, although admittedly we did not try and sit in the lobby and eat it. So maybe a top tip for people staying at the Desert Rose would be to collect breakfast from the buffet and take it back to the comfort of your suite to eat it!
The walk to the Strip is very short, less than 5 minutes and you're at the MGM Grand or NYNY, we didn't find it a problem at all to walk this little extra distance.
In short, we loved the Desert Rose and would recommend it to anyone and we will definitely be staying there again.

I booked the room 7 months in advanced and paid less than $300 for 4 nights. The suite was spacious and the finishes were nice. Nice, quite and not too far from the strip. The breakfast was very continental and we had a hard time keeping a phone signal, but all-in-all, we enjoyed our stay.

Our party of seven had two rooms, one was the two bedroom suite. Each having there own bathroom. Very spacious. Nice big couch. 3 TV's. Nice kitchen if you want to cook. Beds were very comfy. Pillows were nice, not flat like most places. The other was nice and spacious with a smaller kitchen. Very clean! Nice continental breakfast. Nice Happy hour.
Short walk to Hooters and Tropicana, MGM also close by. Near Busline. UNLV Thomas Mac center close by. But not walking distance. Walk to Hooters to get a cab easliy. They can call you a cab also. I would stay there again. Very nice staff on hand! Look forward to staying with them again at other locations.
All the comforts of home! Great experience for our first time to Vegas!

Nice and quiet. No casino or loud young crowds. Easy walk to the South end of the strip. I would definately stay here again, especially with a large group of people or if on a budget. Nice rooms.

“Had a great stay”

I stayed at this resort in September 2008 for 5 nights & enjoyed my stay. The rooms were clean & the hotel felt safe at all times. My room was quite large with a bedroom, bathroom living/dining area & a fully kitted kitchen. The room also comes with a safe, iron & ironing board. I found the air-conditioning unit to be rather noisy, so I switched it off at night.
The resort is just off the strip, next door to Hooters & a 5 minute walk to Tropicana & MGM. Car Parking is free. There is a decent sized swimming pool, although it got very busy at the weekends. The breakfasts are of a buffet style, but very good, although I thought it would had been better if the breakfast eating times finished at 10 AM not 9 AM during the midweek, like they did at the weekends. There is also a small buffet of drinks & crisps etc between 5 & 7 PM.
I would defiently stay at this place again.
