We recently had a two night stay at the Desert Rose. The location is wonderful, very close to the airport. Within walking distance to Hooters, Tropicana, and MGM. The monorail at the MGM will get you almost anywhere else. This is a non gaming resort, which makes it very family friendly...quiet and not smokey. The resort is beautiful and the rooms well appointed. We were given room 1103, a first floor 2 BR, 2 bath 'apartment', complete with a patio. The kitchen was stocked with all necessary items i.e. dishes, flatware, pots/pans, mixing bowls, coffee maker, toaster, blender, iron and board, dish and dishwasher soap..a wonderful set up for a family. It truly was a competely furnished/stocked apartment. We arrived Friday afternoon, mingled at the "happy hour" where we ate chips/salsa and some type of chex mix. There were free sodas, juice, beer and cocktails. Breakfast was continental..bagels, cereal, toast, pastries, sometimes ham sometimes cheese. Just perfect for getting your day started.
The staff was friendly and helpful, couldn't ask for more. 2 downsides....the entry door to our room was right next to the security door that all guest must pass through to gain access to the guest room area. It was comforting knowing that you must have a room key to enter, but we could hear every person that went through, along with the security door slamming shut. Nothing the management can really do about it, and once we got used to it, it was no longer bothersome.
The other downside was in a 1 br suite another person in our group had. The air conditioning in her unit was VERY loud. When it was on, it was difficult to chat at the kitchen table.
All in all, I would love to stay here again. It's a great property!
