“Capri Room not worth the savings unless you like sleeping in a warehouse!”

We stayed at the IP recently. We knew it wasn't a great hotel, but the location is great and the price was right and all we were looking for was a place to sleep....unfortunately we didn't even get that. We booked the cheaper capri room, unaware that all rooms border onto the parking garage warehouse area, which operates 24 hours per day. Imagine lying in bed after a loooong day in Vegas, only to hear the sounds of a bottle depot right beside your pillow, trucks backing in and out, men yelling...it was terrible. After two hours of tossing and turning, I moved to the bathroom floor. Yes, the bathroom floor, where I instantly fell into a peaceful slumber since the noises could not be heard in there. Did I mention I'm pregnant?! Obviously I wasn't happy about this...if I'd known, I would have gladly spent the extra money for a room that isn't in a warehouse. If you are anything but a sound sleeper, do not rent the capri room!

The Imperial Palace (IP) is one of my absolute favorite places in the world. I really don't know what the problem is with all of the whiney, crotchety, crankypants reviews on here. Here are some things to remember:
1. The Imperial Palace has got, hands down, the BEST location on the strip. It is right where you want to be. Right next door to Harrah's and O'Sheas (BEST party bar in Vegas), right across the street from Caesers and has a Tram Station to get anywhere on the main strip...FAST!
2. The Imperial Palace is ONLY for people who want to have fun in Vegas. When I say fun, I mean VEGAS style fun. Drinking, gambling, rowdiness, loud music, crazy people. It is one of the last casinos anywhere with that vibrant energy that is felt on the casino floor. It is electric.
3. This is not the Bellagio. If you want to have someone throw rose petals at your feet while you stroll amidst modern art and waterfalls....go somewhere else....but you'll pay for it.
4. Someone somewhere started a huge rumor that the elevators at the IP don't work. Well, I just stayed at the good ol' IP for the sixth time in as many years. I have never ONCE had any sort of problem with the elevators. People tend to crowd around the front elevators....right behind them are 2 more...or just wait for a few minutes. Jeez.
5. There is NOTHING wrong with the IP. NOTHING. I love it and can't imagine staying anywhere else in Vegas. I have stayed at other places on the strip (on someone else's dime for business) including the big guys. Guess where I hung out on my free time? I mean, come on! Where else can you get Cher to sing for you while Michael Jackson deals you blackjack? I stayed here for the second half of my honeymoon, I stayed here with my friends, I stayed here on business. Its always a riot. The first time I ever stepped inside I knew I was somewhere special. There was an elderly lady in a giant glass container frantically flailing and grasping for cash that was whisking all around her as a loudspeaker boomed circus style music and an over-the-top announcer blared the play-by-play. It was a brilliant spectacle that embodied the essence of Vegas. I love to gamble at IP, and usually hit O'Shea's next door, and Bill's (used to be Barbary Coast) all on the same block. They are my one of my favorite parts of Sin City and the only place on the strip where I feel like the CASINO is still a major part of the life! I love it! My room is clean, it has a BALCONY (there are VERY few hotels in vegas with balconies) and has the "X factor" that you cannot duplicate no matter how many BILLIONS in architecture you throw at a piece of land.

One more thing worth mentioning. When I called to book my stay for last weekend...I was pleasantly surprised to know that ALL FOUR NIGHTS were comped for me! I mean, come on! NOBODY else does that anymore! I tried to get free food when I stayed at Treasure Island...they laughed at me and told me to come back when I played more!

So to sum it up...whiners - stay somewhere else! Folks who want to have fun, stay out till dawn, and GAMBLE...COME ON IN!!!!! Love ya IP...I hope you stay around forever!!! LONG LIVE THE IMPERIAL PALACE!!!!

“Wouldn't stay here again”

This is a very old property and has not been updated since at least the 70s. I booked a deluxe room. I'd hate to see a classic or capri room. Very outdated. Sink and shower did not drain properly. You had to PAY for ice! The noise from Carnival Court at Harrah's was very loud. The one and only good thing about this hotel was that it is located in the middle of the Las Vegas Strip. If you pay more than $40-50 a night, it would be overpriced.

“Harrah's bought bad service!”

Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino

I booked the IP as I am a member of the Harrah's Player's Card (3 years) and the IP came under them recently (I've stayed at all the locations except RIO and Caesar's). I had a comp for 5 nights to attend the Big Smoke and SEMA show. At check in (11:30 pm) I was able to upgrade my room to the Luv Tub Suite which was great, hot water, big room, sliding door to vent smoke out. On my second night things went down hill from there.
I came back at 2:30 am to find my room key didn't work. Going back downstairs w/ my shopping bags, I found out a check in person had mistakenly checked me out of my room! All my personal belongings had been stuffed back into my suitecase by security and taken God knows where! The desk manager said they girl was new and without my permission, did an "unexpected departure" and gave ithe room t to someone else (who actually saw my belongings in the room and called attention to it). They never called my phone # on my registration form to confirm any of this during the day)
They gave me the penthouse to soothe my feelings, which I thought would be even greater than the suite. Nope. The jacuzzi flowed tepid water (you couldn't even burn a baby with it). The room was huge, but all I wanted to do was sleep at this time.
I had a verbal agreement with the Manager to eat at any of Harrah's restaurants (free w/ no verbal limits) and just write my room on the bill and it would be taken care of. After eating at the Japanese restaurant in CP (sushi) the bill came to 578.00$ (hey, we like the good stuff). Upon checking out, they tell me they didn't know we could run up a bill so big, and now the limit was 100.00$!
I had to leave and catch my plane so I didn't have time to haggle with them. I ended up having to pay the balance w/ MY credit card for something THEY did to me in the first place AND renigged on their verbal agreement! I tell everyone this story now just to keep locals from Hawaii every staying there. I have a couple of friends in the industry that have never heard of this type of treatment before. Other than the elevators being slow, everything would have been great and I would have been back again.
Not anymore.............IP......... in this economy it would have behooved you to keep your word when you do this to a customer!

“If you are looking to save money stay on Freemont Street”

Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino

We stayed at the imperial palace because it was the most affordable place on the strip. Last time we went to Las Vegas we stayed on Freemont street and loved it. We should have done that again.
The Imperial Palace is like a maze when you are trying to check in if you do not use the Valet. There was a long line to check in but it moved pretty fast.
The major problem is there are too few elevator's to take you to your room, so you if you are not pushy you will never get up, because people do not form lines and they hop on in front of you. This normally would not be a problem, because we would just use the stairs, but the stair case is locked so you have to use the elevator (even if you are on the third floor).
Another thing was the last night we were there the fire alarm went off at 3 am. They made an announcement that it was not a fire and not to leave the room, but the alarm continued to go off for approximately 45 minutes. Once it was finally off we had about a half an hour of silence and it started going off again.
The rooms were clean and comfortable.
It was nice to have the monorail stop there, but we would not stay there again.
