“Wouldn't stay here again”

Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino

This is a very old property and has not been updated since at least the 70s. I booked a deluxe room. I'd hate to see a classic or capri room. Very outdated. Sink and shower did not drain properly. You had to PAY for ice! The noise from Carnival Court at Harrah's was very loud. The one and only good thing about this hotel was that it is located in the middle of the Las Vegas Strip. If you pay more than $40-50 a night, it would be overpriced.

“Harrah's bought bad service!”

Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino

I booked the IP as I am a member of the Harrah's Player's Card (3 years) and the IP came under them recently (I've stayed at all the locations except RIO and Caesar's). I had a comp for 5 nights to attend the Big Smoke and SEMA show. At check in (11:30 pm) I was able to upgrade my room to the Luv Tub Suite which was great, hot water, big room, sliding door to vent smoke out. On my second night things went down hill from there.
I came back at 2:30 am to find my room key didn't work. Going back downstairs w/ my shopping bags, I found out a check in person had mistakenly checked me out of my room! All my personal belongings had been stuffed back into my suitecase by security and taken God knows where! The desk manager said they girl was new and without my permission, did an "unexpected departure" and gave ithe room t to someone else (who actually saw my belongings in the room and called attention to it). They never called my phone # on my registration form to confirm any of this during the day)
They gave me the penthouse to soothe my feelings, which I thought would be even greater than the suite. Nope. The jacuzzi flowed tepid water (you couldn't even burn a baby with it). The room was huge, but all I wanted to do was sleep at this time.
I had a verbal agreement with the Manager to eat at any of Harrah's restaurants (free w/ no verbal limits) and just write my room on the bill and it would be taken care of. After eating at the Japanese restaurant in CP (sushi) the bill came to 578.00$ (hey, we like the good stuff). Upon checking out, they tell me they didn't know we could run up a bill so big, and now the limit was 100.00$!
I had to leave and catch my plane so I didn't have time to haggle with them. I ended up having to pay the balance w/ MY credit card for something THEY did to me in the first place AND renigged on their verbal agreement! I tell everyone this story now just to keep locals from Hawaii every staying there. I have a couple of friends in the industry that have never heard of this type of treatment before. Other than the elevators being slow, everything would have been great and I would have been back again.
Not anymore.............IP......... in this economy it would have behooved you to keep your word when you do this to a customer!

“If you are looking to save money stay on Freemont Street”

Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino

We stayed at the imperial palace because it was the most affordable place on the strip. Last time we went to Las Vegas we stayed on Freemont street and loved it. We should have done that again.
The Imperial Palace is like a maze when you are trying to check in if you do not use the Valet. There was a long line to check in but it moved pretty fast.
The major problem is there are too few elevator's to take you to your room, so you if you are not pushy you will never get up, because people do not form lines and they hop on in front of you. This normally would not be a problem, because we would just use the stairs, but the stair case is locked so you have to use the elevator (even if you are on the third floor).
Another thing was the last night we were there the fire alarm went off at 3 am. They made an announcement that it was not a fire and not to leave the room, but the alarm continued to go off for approximately 45 minutes. Once it was finally off we had about a half an hour of silence and it started going off again.
The rooms were clean and comfortable.
It was nice to have the monorail stop there, but we would not stay there again.

“Not the best place on the strip.”

We stayed at the Imperial Palace Nov 7 - 10 while in town to attend the Cigar Aficionado Big Smoke.

When we arrived there was a long line to check in, but it moved fairly quickly and took only about 15 - 20 minutes. The woman at the check-in desk was friendly and checked on an upgrade for me. We had a King Deluxe Suite on the 15th floor. The room was very clean when we arrived, the only thing I saw out of place was a cigarette butt on the balcony. The furniture was in good repair, the carpet was clean and there where plenty of amenities.

Our room faced north and we heard the constant high decibel low frequency banging from the music at the bar between Harrah's and the IP. This would begin about 2 - 3pm and go on until about 2am. It was made worse by the fact that our balcony door would not close tighly, even though it was locked. Where we to stay here again, I would make sure that we got a south facing room.

The room was approx 600sq or the size of two larger hotel rooms. The living area had a desk with a chair, sleeper sofa, 2 easy chairs a tv and 2 end tables. There was a wet bar also with a small sink, nice marble counter top and a refrigerator. The refrigerator was off when we arrived, but got cold quickly and even froze our water until we got it adjusted.

The bedroom area had a King Bed, 2 night stands an amoire with a tv and drawers. There was a HUGE tub that also contained the shower, a double sink a closet and a room for the toilet. This is not a kid friendly room since there is no place private to change other than the small room that contained the toilet.
There are mirrors above both the tub/shower and the bed.

The casino area was fine, but there are 2 places where you are stopped by the "vacation" sellers before you can get to an elevator. Speaking of the elevators, this was the one single reason that I would not stay at the IP again. There were 2 banks of elevators that could service our floor. One was a bank of 3 that were close to the check-in area and the other were further down and there were 4 on the main hall and 2 behind them. The first bank constantly had a line. and the elevators were SLOW. The second bank had a huge crowd all the time and at least 1 -2 of the elevators were not working at all. Often it would take 3 -4 times to finally get on one. These elevators are also slow and for some reason would stop at every floor on the way down, even though there was no one around.

We only ate at 2 of the restaurants. We had breakfast at the Tea House 2 times and the food was terrific. The service was a bit slow, but we were not in a hurry either time. We had a late dinner at the Burger Palace and the burgers were good and the service was fast.

Our car was in Valet for the entire stay, so we only had to deal with their slowness one time.

For center strip this place is OK, but we won't stay here again if we have a choice.

“It is Home to Me!”

THIS is my home when I come to Vegas.

IP makes it possible for me to stay a tad longer than other places would due to their reasonable prices and one of their casino hosts, Bob Cohen is one wonderful guy! He may be extremely busy but he will always help you in any way he can.

I have never had any issues at this hotel and granted the rooms are not like the high priced hotels BUT, I do not find the room to be the place where I am spending my time. It makes a whole lot more sense to me to spend it shopping and gambling.

As a person who travels alone, I feel perfectly safe at this location. I find their staff to be helpful and friendly.

I DID find during the transition last year that the new people behind the check in/out counter were anything but helpful BUT I chock that up to it being the transition period and I will hold off on comments on them again until I make my yearly trip in December.

All in all................I find it to be a good value for the money!
