I just returned from a 4 night stay at Bally's for a conference. Las Vegas is not someplace I've ever had a strong desire to visit but I enjoyed my stay. Bally's seemed like a central location on the strip. I loved being able to go outside and see the Bellagio fouuntaines accross the street and I visited Paris a few times since it is conected via this really neat indoor 'sidewalk in Paris' with shops and restaurants. I walked to the Mirage for a show which was an easy distance. It seemed like it would be a good spot to explore more of the strip.
I was under the impression when I booked the stay through the conference block of rooms that I would be in one of the South Tower rooms. When I read the reviews of them and saw the pictures posted on this site I was pretty disappointed. I was very pleasantly surprised when I was given a North Tower King room on the 20th floor when I checked in. They are still your basic hotel fare but they are roomy, have comfortable loveseat size chairs and nice desks. The decor is very warm and the bathrooms are large with marble vanities. I do have to mention that the TV selection was a bit odd - the Weather Channel, CNN and one or two local channels were all I got except for several Japanese channels. Not that I was there to watch TV but it surprised me at any rate. I know the south tower rooms have nice views of the strip so I was surprised at the view from my room. I could see mountains on either side and some limited views of the strip.
I ordered room service a few times (a couple times were just for coffee) and the food and coffee were very good and they were quick enough. It never took more than 30 minutes or so. For some reason I didn't have a coffee pot in my room the first night but then I did for the next 3 nights. It worked well and made a decent cup of coffee.
The lines were long at times for check in and check out but that seemed to be the norm in Vegas. I would definitely stay there again. I really felt comfortable in my room and it was very quite every night.
