So after getting a bargain on price-line I arrived for a 5 day stay at the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino Las Vegas. Its location is not all that bad and as many others here have reviewed you get what you pay for. Check-in has changed since my last visit and the counters that were located near the valet parking are now exclusive to another sister resort (Tahiti village) so you have to trundle right through the middle of the casino to the other end (easy if you arrive by taxi or airport van). With just over 15 of the possible 20 check-in areas open I was all done within 15 minutes and on my way to floor 23. I was offered an upgrade at registration for $15 per night I got a premium strip view with single king, and well worth the money. The room was basic with old fashioned television, a number of standard lamps, small coffee table and 2 chairs open hanging space with iron and board. In room Air-con and heating and comfortable bed, with clean duvet and scatter pillows. Bathroom was clean with all the normal needs present, bath/shower combo, hair dryer and plenty of towels. This is my 5th stay here and the hotel is in urgent need of refurbishment, all though the rooms and communal areas are clean they are showing signs of wear and tear. Wi-Fi is available for a cost as is entrance to the tower which I still feel is unfair for hotel residents. Plenty of eating places are available with Roxy’s 50 style restaurant as being my personal favorites.
Ok so would I stay here again? Possibly but a number of my work colleagues got a lot more for not much more than I spent. It’s a popular hotel and is a good base to explore Vegas, but if your looking for something a little more special then spend the extra £20 and grab a 4* further up the strip.
