Check-in was relatively fast. I didn't wait more than 5 minutes to get to the next desk clerk. Check-out may be via the television from 5am-1pm (leave your room key in your room) or by dropping a check-out form in a designated box. The front desk receptionist was very polite and courteous. You can store your luggage at their bell desk your last day if your plane leaves late for the price of only gratuity.

I have no idea if they plan to remodel any rooms in this hotel, but it would be nice to have a flat screen LCD tv such as sister hotel Aquarius in Laughlin or the Riviera (two casino hotels of similar size and price range) do instead of the awkward conventional TV with poor reception quality and a curved screen. The bed itself, the down blanket, and pillows were nice and comfortable. There wasn't a lamp in the immediate vicinity of the work desk area, which puzzled me.

They charge a $1 access fee per call (including for local and 800 numbers), so bring and use your cell phone exclusively. They also have wireless internet for $11.99 for 24 hours.

My view was of the parking structure, but since I hadn't specifically paid extra for a specific view of something more desirable, I didn't really mind (although my reservation did state I was to have a premium view, which it was not).

I was disappointed in the bathroom. The floor was dirty and it was something you'd expect to see in a YMCA or high school gym locker room. There was no bathtub, just a shower (no glass enclosure either) with a drain at the bottom. No tile in the bathroom, just a concrete floor. I certainly didn't expect great things in a 3 star hotel, but I didn't expect a bathroom of such poor quality. Toiletries given were deodorant soap and shampoo. The maid also leaves an envelope specifically for tips.

The buffet is better than others I have tasted throughout Las Vegas and Laughlin. There was a great selection of meat, salad, and dessert, among other food items. They have McDonalds and a selection of shops on their 2nd floor. Guests are allowed to access the Tower for free from 10am-2pm. Outside of those hours, it costs $10 for hotel guests/Nevada residents and $13.95 for non-hotel guests to access the tower, not including the price of rides.

The Stratosphere is at the northern end of the Strip near the Sahara. It's relatively far from the hustle and bustle of mid-Strip, so if location matters to you, I would suggest you try a hotel in a similar price range in that area. The Deuce (double decker bus) is notoriously slow in traveling through the crowded Strip, so plan ahead and be at the bus stop at least 1 hour before any event or show you plan to attend.

I probably wouldn't stay here again, but then again, I was always the kind of person to try a different hotel and experience every single time I came to a certain city. I was just much more impressed with the Riviera's and Aquarius' newly remodeled rooms.

we stayed at the stratosphere for 4 days. The moment we came out of the elevator to where our room was at, there was an overwhelming stench of some hair product. Like stuff they use to perm hair with. We walk into the room and it was pretty plain for the price we paid. it looked pretty run down. We had two queen size beds in there. the first bed i looked at, had hair on it. the sheets obviously had not been changed. the other bed had the sheets changed. when we left the room, i asked the housekeeping lady to change the sheets on the bed. when we came back later that evening, the hair was still on the bed. the room walls were thin, so you could hear everything next door and outside the front door. We had the terrible view. the view of a parking lot!!! if you want to see the new strip, where all the other casinos are at, it's gonna cost you a pretty penny with taxi's. About $25-30 dollars. there was no shuttle service from the hotel. gambling is ok, but some of the waitresses wouldn't bring more drinks unless you were tipping them. if my wife and i were to vacation in vegas again, we DEFINETELY wouldn't stay at the stratosphere.

“Best Time Ever!!”

We just returned home from a stay at the Stratosphere, it was fantastic ! I like a lot of people read the reveiws and thought did I pick the right hotel. Well, I did. We booked our flight/ hotel with Allegiant, we did not have any problems with that service at all. Checking into the Stratosphere was approximately 10 minutes. The hotel perosn was friendly and easy to talk with. He told us how to get to the elevator and where it was located in the casino. Our room was nice with a king size bed, which was very comfortable. We were on the 18th floor on tower #1, our view was great, we faced the mountains. I did learn the word "No Thanks" while we were there, the Tahati Village personnal drove you crazy. However, it seemed like the other casinos that I visted had the same problem with the village personnal.
We ate at Roxy's which was good, we also ate at the buffet which I did not like. I though the price was too high for the quality of the food. My wife and I walked everywhere, we did not take the monorail or the Decue until out last day. We only had one money and in one case I was carrying Krispy Kreme doughnuts , and he wanted one, which I said No.
I believe that the Stratosphere was a bonus being north of the other casinos, there were not a lot of people and the walking we did was great.
I would go back to the Startosphere in a heart beat.
Oh, we even went to the pool one afternoon on the 8th floor, the water was cool, howevre it was enjoyable. I almost fell asleep listening to the music that was being played along with the warm sun, it was great.
We did go downtown to Fremont, there is a bus(Decue) that stops right across from the hotel. It's $2 each way or $5 for the whole day. The dropping off point for the Decue is right at the Startospehre which was nice.
I would recommend this hotel for older people, over 25. There were some young people as well though. Overall I had a great time,so don't let the location of the Staratosphere detour you from your choice. If you like a lot of people around you, go somewhere else in the middle of the strip.

“Great hotel, great value!”

Stratosphere Hotel, Casino and Tower

Oct 27, 2008

This was our second time staying at the Stratosphere. It is very comfortable, friendly and helpful staff, nice relaxing atmosphere, rooms very clean, bathroom clean, coffee provided in rooms. For the price it is way ahead of other hotels on that end of the strip. You can easily get to the other end of the strip by bus or taxi and save yourself a lot of money by staying here where the rates are reasonable. We tried several hotels in the area and Stratosphere was the best. We plan to go there again on our next trip to Vegas.

Hotel part of Stratosphere is average. Entertainment system in the room did not work most of my stay. Soundproofing is min. between rooms and hallway.

Good part- Casino and bar areas were good. Friendly service and good payback on Video poker. The tower is a good way to spend the afternoon. Rides are scary but worth it. Restuarant is overly priced but worth the experience for lunch.

Must see- The show "Bite" was excellent, not just the topless part, but the whole show.

I would vist the casino and tower in the future, but I would stay at another hotel.
