I spent one night at this hotel which was one night too many. Def not a 4 star property. I relied on the Starwood name expecting above par customer service, friendly staff and a comfortable care-free stay. Nothing of the sort. The staff was bland and sometimes nowhere to be found. The Concierge phone was never answered. At one point I went down to the desk after being tossed into voicemail. The woman at the concierge desk was busy chatting up one of the other employees. Only when i interrupted them did she speak to me. The rooms are small and definately not up to a 4 star standard - MAYBE 3 stars, but that's pushing it. the Heavenly Shower was nothing more than two shower heads on one pipe. Frankly, the lower of the two is useless and can be painful depending on the temp and pressure of the water. The halls were cramped and closed-in. The valets were helpful but certainly ready for their tips. The lounge bar and casino were OK, but lacked any sort of personality except for the bartender on duty. She was great! I quickly dropped my luggage and left to meet up with friends staying at other hotels. I really regret booking this through priceline. I paid $140 plus taxes for what i consider to be a $70.00/night property AT BEST. Don't bother staying here or booking through priceline in Vegas!

“Not a real 4 star”

We booked this hotel from priceline hoping to stay at a four star hotel on the strip. When we found out that we had booked the Westin for $110/night and of its location we were not that happy.

On our arrival, the hotel was not of 4 star quality. While the hotel was nice and staff were friendly, it resembles more of a 3 star hotel in terms of atmosphere, services and space.

When we arrived, there was no one there to take our baggage from our car or even from check-in to our room. The rooms pool and casino were small and the view from our room overlooked a parking lot. There was also no movie channels such as HBO available for free and only what seems to be basic cable. The pool was also small and was not fancy or relaxing in any way.

While we had no major concerns and staff were friendly during our stay, our only concern is that we were mislead in believing that it was a 4 star hotel. This place is a good 3 star hotel. It is def not of 4 star quality as described and def not worth $110/night compared to other hotels which were available for much cheaper.

“The Westin stepped up to the plate!!”

Being an avid user of TripAdvisor, I was a bit concerned when I read some of the negative reviews of the Westin. So much so that I contacted them to ensure that there were no issues, like construction, that would impact my stay. They ensured me that there was nothing going on, and that some of the issues brought up by others had been resolved.

With that said, we arrived early and were very surprised that our room was ready. The room was spacious and had all the usual items expected. We were on the 16th floor, a floor for Starwood members, which we were not. So that was a bonus. The elevators were timely. The room was clean. The bathroom, although small, was well appointed. The king size bed was absolutely amazing.

On the downside, the TV was old school. It is hard to find a 4 or 5 star hotel that doesn't have flat screens. There was no Ipod hookup, and the TV channels were very limited. I know it is Vegas, and TV watching is not high on people's list, but when you do flip it on, it would have been nice to have something other than 4 news channels, a bunch of sports and cooking channels and several Vegas/hotel channels. HBO would have been nice. There was the street noise. Apparently there is a fire department close by, and the sirens do permeate the walls, even 16 floors up. Some of the staff (cashier) were rude or just not really happy to be there. But most were very nice.

The hot tub was nice. After all the walking you do in Vegas, having a nice hot tub, with jets hitting the feet, is just the thing to get you ready to hit the strip again. The Starbucks closes too early, and has a completely different pricing than any other 'Buck.' The casino has all the right games and is clean and uncrowded.

So, all in all, it was a pleasant experience. I would and will stay there again. The few downsides are easily outweighed by the positives. I am not sure what those that had negatives to say were expecting. Who knows, maybe they were the issue and not the hotel. I have seen that more often than not. The Westin did a great job in making my Vegas vacation a positive experience. I am sure that you to will experience the same.

Enjoy!!

“Had a great stay”

The Westin Casuarina Hotel & Spa

4 of 5 stars
Aurora, Colorado

My husband and I had stayed in several places in Vegas, and while this hotel isn't a wild party place... it was a wonderful retreat each night when we went to bed.

The hallways are very quiet in the evening, since it caters to more of a busines crowd. So, no slamming doors at 3a.m., drunk party people yelling loudly at their friends as they return etc.

The beds are very comfy and the room is modern. The casino is small, as is the pool. So, if you want a huge casino and enormous pool, this isn't the place for you.

We didn't eat at the Restaurant (Suede) but I did check their prices one morning and the buffett was $18 per person. Seemed pricey to me so we went to the Starbucks (also in the hotel) and had pastries and coffee instead.

If you want some peace and quiet in the evening, the Westin is perfect!!

“OK place to stay”

This hotel was OK. Off the strip a little ways. Got it through Priceline and got charged $10.78 a day resort fee anyways. What a joke. Tried to dispute it and they would not budge. The rooms were clean . Casino area was very small, but is was a quiet place if that is what you are looking for. I would not stay here again, mainly because of their resort fee.
