I stayed for 3 nights in early November. The overall stay was good. Check-in on Sunday afternoon was pretty quick. The staff was very polite. The room was fine, large although the armoire (which includes the TV) takes up significant space. I was in the Carnival Tower, and while the room was on the Strip side, it was only on the 5th floor so there wasn't a real view. A friend was in the Mardi Gras Tower on the 11th floor - he had a better view, but still not that great . As long as you don't expect much of a view there won't be a problem.
I found the room comfortable - there isn't much to say. It was quiet - I didn't hear much activity from the adjoining rooms. Bathroom was large and the shower/water pressure and temperature were good; plenty of hot water in the morning when many people are showering. I had breakfast at the buffet one morning, and it was good.
I had two problems here. First is that at night I could hear the rock band playing at the hotel bar that adjoins the strip. It wasn't loud, but could be heard - it might annoy sensitive people. It stopped about 12:30 to 1 am. This will only affect some rooms, and if you are on the other side of the Carnival tower or in the Mardi Gras I don't think you will hear it.
Second was that the housekeeping did not replace the washcloths as they took them to be laundered. On the last day this left me with none, which I consider atrocious. When I called in the evening to get some (when I noticed) they didn't bring them up. But a second call the next morning was quickly taken care of. At checkout I was told that the laundry company that serves all the hotels didn't deliver to anyone. Even if that were true, the staff should know not to take the old ones if they have no fresh washcloths to leave. This was probably a one time issue and wouldn't stop me from returning. But it was an area that needs improvement. (I left a smaller gratuity, and a note, so the housekeeper will hopefully know better if it happens again.)
Overall I consider Harrah's a very satisfactory hotel and would return. It has a good location on the Strip, and easy access to the monorail. It's not as fancy as some others, but is much more affordable.
