“Great Hotel but rooms need refurb”

Luxor Las Vegas

Check in, after spending 20 minutes trying to find the right corner of the building was quick and friendly.
We were travelling with a 18 month old baby and had requested a crib/cot. This was delivered to the room after 5 mins - service at this hotel was v good.
We had a pyramid deluxe room and though very spacious was very outdated. Our friends were staying in the tower and these rooms seemed to be much newer.
Even though we were in the pyramid the room was very quiet.
We never tried the buffet breakfast - the queues were out of the building, would have been lunch time before we got there.
In summary - you can't have a bad time in this city, this hotel is really well priced but the pyramid rooms need a good refurb - stay in the tower if you have the chance.

Oh yes, my father in law got chatted up by a hooker and it made his night.

“Lux for less...”

After having to give Egypt a miss on our round the world tour, we decided to stay at the Luxor in Vegas - kitcsh we know, but we thought - it's Vegas! Upon arrival we were bombarded with sales staff trying to get us to buy ticktets to shows etc, we knew straight away it was a scam and that the price of these tickets were above and beyond the actual cost. We then had to stand in the check in line for over an hour and when we finally reached 'check in' we were told that there were no non-smoking suites available so we had to settle for a non-smoking normal hotel room in the pyramid. The room itself was clean, a little dated, but clean. The hallways were disgusting, torn carpet, flaking wallpaper, stench of cigarettes (which wafts up from the casino area below) and dirty dishes outside of most rooms. For what we paid (AU$240) a night we were quite disapointed. The pool area is beautiful and well maintained, although there were a lot of unsupervised children running around, splashing etc which was very very annoying. Even though the hotel is a little out of the action, we found getting to the other casino's easy enough via monorails, walkways and the Strip itself. We are planning to go again, however will opt to stay at either Mandalay Bay (gorgeous), Cesars Palace or the Venetian which we think are the three best casino's in Vegas.

“Liked the Luxor”

As we enjoyed staying on the strip last time I was hoping to find a nice hotel on the strip again. The Luxor happened to have a special rate which included a few free meals etc so I thought why not!
I am happy I took a chance on this hotel. We enjoyed the overall experience very much!

Check-in - took a few minutes there was a little line but not bad, Offered to upgrade us for a fee ( I said no thanks).

The Room- was good, bed was comfy , it was clean, nice soaps etc, it has a big shower not a tub but was fine. I was happy with the room (If not i guess I would have went back down and asked for the upgrade)

The hotel - overall it has a nice theme I like the Egyption styling inside the hotel I found it just went so well with Vegas. There are lots of diff restaurants and a food court which is handy (esp for a quick bite). It is a large hotel but it wasn't bad to get to restaurants or pool but you do need to take escalators or stairs or elevators to get around. There are shows right at the hotel too which is nice.
We enjoyed the pool and hot tubs. i wish we would have done the Texas Hold'em tournament there maybe next time.

Check out - was simple.

Other stuff-
Although we never experienced theft and house keeping was great to us, I would make sure not to leave your valuables lying around as once when we were having a pool day and I left my hubby alone in the room someone was going into our room after I left. It seemed a bit suspicious as housekeeping had already done our room. But really we never had anything taken (my hubby was there) I was just looking around my room before I left making sure there was nothing tempting around! (I am not sure if I was being paranoid but why take a chance)

I may try different hotels as there are many nice hotels on the strip (The Venetian looks quite nice prob a bit pricey too, The Lux Cafe in the Venetain had very tasty pasta dishes)
But the Luxor is a nice hotel and the price on the rooms was a real deal. Paying top dollar I would still have liked the hotel but considering we found a great rate I really enjoyed the hotel.

Overall would I stay here again, YES.

“Luxor good hotel .. avoid the time share people !!!”

I stayed at the luxor end of septemeber. As many would say its hard to choose where to stay in vegas. I stayed with my husband, father and sister. We all liked the rooms, we eneded up in a tower room. Originally I booked two pyramid rooms, when we checked in the rcptionist told us the two rooms would be on diferent floors (our travel agent said they would be together?) the recptionist who dealt woth us was good, shegot us a 2 rooms together in the tower rom instead with no extra charge. we were happy with this. The rooms were cleana nd comfortable and big enough.

Only one complaint the TIME SHARE CON!!! Just before we checked in we were grabbed by what we thought were hotel staff who help with excursions! Basically the lady told us we could have half price tickets for a show this sounded good. The only catch was we would have to visit their 'sister' hotel in a tour, then after the tour we could collect our tickets, so we signed up!!

Basically ths tour was actually a time share which took 3 hours of our time!!! Evenafter we told them not interested we had 2 more sales people come and giveus a 'great deal' The worse thing is at the end theykept saying here are you gifts for atteding?? GIFTS???? we had paid for these!

We met some people on the bus back to to the luxor they recieved FREE tickets and food vouchers!!!

If you get grabbed by these people get some frrebies then it will be worth it!!

OVerall good hotel stay away from time share people!!!!

“Like Luxor less and less”

Hubby and I stayed at the Luxor for the 3rd or 4th time on November 4 - 9. We didn't like it at all this time. We stayed there to be close to the convention we attended. Several things were in need of repairs in the room. If you've never been in a room at the Luxor, beware - the rooms are extremely dark. I almost went out in the hall to put make up on one day! It looks old and the rooms are overpriced.
