“Good Value”

Luxor Las Vegas

We stayed at the Luxor in the Tower rooms for three nights in late September. All in all, it was fine. The room was pretty clean and in good shape. It was a decent size for two people. The pool was very nice and the hotel decor was interesting.

On the other hand, the rooms were a little dark like others on here have said. The bed was very low and not the most comfortable thing. I rented a refrigerator at $15 a day so we could have cold drinks. I wish it was included in the room though. I bought a case of water across the street at the gas station for a reasonable sum of money. The Towers are set up a little weird. The walk to them is through very narrow corridors with lots of 90 degree angles. It felt like we were always turning and bumping into people. Also be aware that the fast food restaurants in the hotel are a little pricey.

The nightly rate was very reasonable compared to other hotels on the strip. If you stay here, definitely eat at the buffet. It is priced well and very worth it.

If you do not like walking or have health concerns, you may not want to stay here if you plan on walking to the other casinos. It is a good walk to many of them. If not, it is a nice place. I would stay here again.

“A good place to stay”

I stayed at the Luxor for 3 nights at the end of October and it was a fairly nice place to stay. I booked a pyramid room, and at check in I politely asked the woman if any tower rooms were available. She said there were, and that it would be $20 a night, except Friday would be $30. I agreed, and she walked to the side for a second, then told me her manager said the upgrade would be free. It was nice to not have to pay, even though the upgrade price wasn't expensive. The walk to the tower rooms is a bit long, but worth it. The pyramid rooms are in the casino, and are probably loud since everything is literally outside the rooms, and construction is going on near the lobby. My room in the tower was nice, it was clean, bright, roomy, and had a view of the area off the strip. The beds were a little too hard, and there aren't coffee makers in the room, meaning you have to buy coffee at one of the many Starbucks in the hotel, or at the Pyramid Cafe. Other than that however the hotel itself is nice. It's located bewteen the Mandalay Bay and the Excalibur at the South end of the strip. It's not that far to walk to NY NY, or any hotel near there. Walking to other places like the Venetian, or hotels in that area of the strip is a walk, but the strip is 4 miles long! It's a walk no matter where you're staying if you want to see the entire strip, or nearly the entire strip.

“disappointed,”

It was our first visit to Vegas (not one I wish to repeat in a hurry). We chose the Luxor because of its reputation of being one of the best hotels, OH DEAR!!!! It is badly in need of a facelift. The room was big and we had a spa suite in the pyramid (the spa bath was great at the end of a grulling day). The room was dingy and the decor horrible, carpets need at the very least cleaning. The carpets in the corridors were all puckered and looked like they needed refitting. The staff were very hands off. There is no tea/coffee making facility in the room and ours had no fridge either (although my daughtes did). The sitting area in the room contained a small round table and 2 dining chairs and that was all. The buffet was good and staff in there very nice. After 7 nights I was glad to be going home. If you are going stay further into the strip, pay a bit more for the Bellagio, Ceasars, Venitian or Winn. These are all perfectly placed. Feel a bit ripped off to be honest a lot of money for an average hotel, its living on its past rep I'm afraid.

“Good location and reasonably priced”

Luxor Las Vegas

The Luxor is one of the most famous hotels so seemed appropriate to stay there and we got a great deal! Overall, this is a great hotel. Staff and concierge are very friendly and helpful and although the check in queue can get long, it seems to go down quite quickly.

Just a few notes, it is now their off season and so one of the pools and the pool snack bar is now closed. However, the larger pool is still open as well as the bar and there are plenty of food places inside. Please be careful with your stuff though; there are signs up saying if you leave a sun lounger unattended for an hour it will be assumed to be free. We left ours for 30 mins to grab something for lunch (as the pool snack bar was closed) and came back to find not only the towels removed but also our guide book, sun cream and water bottles thrown in the bin!! Wish they had put so much dedication to cleaning our room as there were a couple of days when we didn't get clean towels etc.

Rooms are quite dark, as lighting is low, I think it is the theme? They are spacious though and have everything you need. Although you are at one end of the strip, you can walk / get a tram to most places and get taxis back if you're tired. Overall we had a great experience here and think we got a lot for our money.

    • Disliked — The poolside cleaners on sun lounger emptying patrol!!

“A Nice Place To Say”

Luxor Las Vegas

3 of 5 stars

Nov 5, 2008

Our group choose the Luxor for our Oct 28-31 stay because of its affordability. We stayed on the 22nd floor in the pyramid in a spa suite that featured an in room Jacuzzi, two queen beds, separate sitting room and a huge bathroom. The accommodations were spacious and nearly half of the price of a comparable room elsewhere in Vegas. There are some trade offs that came with the cheap prices. The pyramid is need of a lot of upkeep. While the building and grounds are clean they are not as “polished” as other strip properties. Peeling paint and wall paper could be found in public areas of the hotel as well as some other visual detractors. Some of the signs posting floor numbers in the elevators areas appeared to have been ripped off the walls. Rust and calcium was evident around plumbing fixtures. The guest room furniture was far from new, the tables and the armoire had many dings, scratches and the venire was pealing. The carpeting was worn and was stained in more than a few places. The interior of the inclinators showed their age with many scratches, dents and cracks in the mirrored interior. I think that most people would be turned off by the condition of the facilities. The pool area is nice but can be become very cramped on a warm day. The staff was helpful. House keeping was very efficient. The breakfast buffet was great. Overall the Luxor is a good regular small town hotel but not in the same league as the other MGM/Mirage hotels.
