We have stayed at Fortune Bay almost every month for the last 3 years. We take one night off per month alone and almost always spend it at Fortune Bay. We have also spent several nights there with all of our chidlren (13!). We have never had anything but the very best service, great food and relaxing atmosphere. We would highly recommend this hotel as a romantic getaway. Splurge for a suite, eat at the new restaurant at the golf course, enjoy the nearby cultural center or take a boat trip on beautiful Lake Vermilion.

This is a Vegas-style resort with a Northern theme and totally won me over. Decor, layout, grounds, service were all excellent. The dinner buffet needs improvement, breakfast was great. Rooms are a little noisier than I like, but very comfortable.

I've found this hotel quite friendly. I wouldn't suggest visiting for events like Long John Days if you are not a part of the events. On my visits I have found the staff helpful, the hotel rooms immaculate, the food better than average, and have had fun. We've been to many social events and just get-aways.

We stayed at Fortune Bay Casino in Tower, MN last weekend for our anniversary and to check out Long John Days. The casino gave us no promotions for our first time visit, our anniversary, or for staying in the hotel. The evening bar band played from 9:00 to 11:15 instead of 9:00 to 1:00 am, without any notice. The folder in the hotel room said beers were $1.00 on Saturdays, bartenders thought we were nuts and a beer was $3.00 daytime and night. The Long John Days activities were few, hard to find, and not spectator friendly. There were no souvenir Long John Days, t-shirts or mugs available for sale. Casino did say they will mail us a voucher to receive $5.00 in coin on our next visit. It's a long drive and in the middle of nowhere, another visit is highly unlikely. There are plenty of friendly casinos elsewhere.
