“Loved the Conrad Chicago”

Conrad Chicago

5 of 5 stars
Charlotte, North Carolina
Aug 22, 2008

The Conrad Hilton was fabulous. We stayed there August 12 - 16 for my birthday. I booked the hotel on Hotwire for a rate of $145 per night. Getting the Hotwire price truly meant getting a five star hotel for a three star price. I asked if we could get a room with a view of the city, but they indicated that it would cost an extra $40 per night. I declined figuring that we could use that money towards dinners out. One entrance is on Rush Street and the other entrance is on Michigan Ave. in the heart of the retail district of the Magnificent Mile so the location is hard to beat. We were on the 12th floor (the hotel sits atop a high end shopping center and the lobby is on the 5th floor) and our room was pure luxury and the service excellent. There is a large plasma TV in each room and the shower is big enough for four people. Once I returned home I noticed that I left a few small pieces of clothing in the dresser drawer. I called the hotel and they sent the items to me via Fedex at no charge. We did not eat at the hotel due to prices, but there are many great places to eat within a few blocks. We went to the West Egg for breakfast nearby. Its a wonderful little place with great food at reasonable prices. A nice way to start the day. I would highly recommend this hotel if you can get a Hotwire or Priceline price.

“Great Location, Right where you want to be...”

Conrad Chicago

This hotel is all about location. What a perfect location to stay if you are going downtown Chicago. Service is what the Conrad stands for and they back it up with staff. More staff per person than any hotel we've stayed. Food was impressive, presentation was original. The outside bar we met every night and enjoyed after a night out what a great way to end the night. Movie night needs to be more age approite, no kid movies in a bar..

The only problem with this hotel was the inconvience of the elevators. They drop you off on Rush and you need to take two elevators from your room to the ground floor. Once you realize this it's not problem. Thank you Hilton brand...

“Priceline winning bid on 4* NMA area Friday night $90”

This was a very good value through Priceline. Hotel is very difficult to find, as the entrance (appears to be under construction) is on Rush Street. My Garmin couldn't get satellite reception on the way in so I had to rely on an old -fashioned map. Parking is located in the Nordstrom lot, which is also on Rush St. We used the self-park option which was $29 for up to a 24 hour period. All the neighboring lots appeared to be $38 if parking overnight. I requested 2 queen beds and a coffee-maker. I got the queen beds. I'm thinking coffee-makers don't exist. The rooms were clean and a little larger than most hotel rooms. The bathroom was much larger than average. The t.v. was gigantic by hotel-room standards. View on 8th floor was just o.k., but we weren't in the room much. Housekeeping was terrific, replacing a comforter that one of my kids managed to get dirty. One concierge was great and another was pretty poor, telling us there was no place we could go for dinner at 6pm, as all the restaurants would be full. Both Fri. and Sat. night, we were able to walk right in and be seated at two different restaurants at 6pm (may be a sign of the bad economy or could be my taste in restaurants). I don't think anyone should pay $300 to stay here, but $200 would be reasonable.

“Should not be a Conrad”

Conrad Chicago

3 of 5 stars
Indianapolis

I will start off by saying that I am a Hilton Honors Diamond Member and have stayed at other Conrads and so I review this Conrad from that perspective.

The Conrad in Chicago used to be a Le Meridian and they have changed nothing from those days it seems. They are in the process of remodeling but at present it is still the same.

The rooms, bits and pieces are a bit tired, the shower had a couple of cracked tiles and seemed quite frankly a bit dirty.

The service is OK, the concierge is the best part of the hotels service, quick attentive, knowledgeable.

Many of these small things you would forgive if it were just a Hilton, but not a Conrad and the prices they charge. The staff at this hotel need to go and spend a few days at the Singapore Conrad and learn how a Conrad should be run. Until then it is a tarted up Hilton.

“Nicer than we expected”

Conrad Chicago

5 of 5 stars
Detroit, Michigan
Aug 14, 2008

This hotel was chosen because the room rate was less than other similarly rated hotels on the Miracle Mile. We had low expectations and we were pleasantly surprised. The street level lobby was under construction, which was not a good first impression, but it explained the lower room rate. We were very happy with the size and cleanliness of the room, the friendliness of the staff, and the location. We did not eat in the restaurants. There is a Corner Bakery nearby that has a very good, inexpensive breakfast menu.
