“There's More to Orlando Than Disney”

My husband and I have stayed at the Grand Bohemian 4 times the past couple of years when he has to be in Orlando for work. We always have such an amazing time while there, and I am always sorry to leave.
On our most recent visit, I had to work in NYC for several days while my husband was in Orlando. I had planned to fly into Orlando to meet him and then we would drive to pick up our children from their visit with their grandparents. My husband surprised me by reserving a room at the G.B. so that we could have some time to ourselves before the kids and the long drive home.
I should mention that I had the opportunity to stay at the Four Seasons while in NYC, which was a first for me and it was fantastic. My husband even said when telling me about his "surprise", "Well, its not the Four Seasons, but I know you always enjoy the G.B.".
After the luxury of 3 nights in NYC, I was pleasantly surprised that our stay at the G.B. was just as delightful as the Four Seasons. It did not seem like a 'let down" in the slightest.
The rooms are beautifully appointed, with a touch of whimsy. Very "Moulin Rouge". The mix of velvet, satin and tapestry is just lovely. The rooms are so large, the shower is luxurious, the bar downstairs is hip and a great stop for drinks and convo before heading out for dinner.
The rooftop pool is super chic with its sleek furnishings, red pillows and chandeliers in the permanant tented lounge.
We like to take the family to Disney just as much as the next family, but do yourself a favor and take a little getaway to O-town, sans children, and enjoy the fun city life, great restaurants of Thorton Park, boutique shopping of Winter Park, and fabulous stay at the Grand Bohemian!

We (my husband and myself) were in Orlando for business and stayed at the Grand Bohemian at the suggestion of the conference staff. It was a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with such warmth and professionalism. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and appreciated. The room was lovely, wonderful bed linens and spacious seating area with a wonderful view of downtown Orlando. The bathroom was nice as well with all amenities replinsihed daily. The only setback was the the $21 daily charge for valet parking which was the only option unless you found other parking on your own. Overall, our week long stay was wonderful. We even had room service and that too was wonderful and delivered in a timely mannner.

“Not a 4 or 5 star property - May be 3 if at all...”

Let me start by admitting my mistake when I booked this property by first checking them out on the Internet and then calling them directly to book the advance-purchase non-refundable room. During all that process, I was under the impression that I was booking a property near Downtown Disney not realizing that hotel was located in Orlando downtown area. Need an eye checkup…

Property was OK. Staff was attentive and courteous. The atmosphere however; was dull and almost boring. We (my wife and I with 6-years-old-son) stayed in a king size bed with a sofa bed located on the 15th-floor concierge level. We had the swimming pool view which is located down on the 6th floor. Room was bit cramped and furniture worn-out. Room doesn't have a flat-screen wall-mounted TV but an old analog machine. Bathroom was clean but very ordinary. The bathroom amenities were three small bottles and single a sink. The shower did have two showerheads however; water-pressure was pretty weak. Friday night, they had a fashion show thus; pool usage was restricted to staying guests. People were smoking virtually everywhere.

One of the perks of being on the “concierge” leave was usage of the exclusive lounge which servers breakfast and happy hours in the evening. The breakfast was pretty pathetic with fresh fruits, cereals, muffins and pancakes. There were no eggs and conventional bread. It was the same on Friday thru Sunday. We did go to the pool area and my son swam. He was happy. For grownups however; the pool is rather small, and less than 4 feet deep which doesn’t provide true swimming pleasure. Saturday night, the smoke alarm in our room went off. We all got up and left the room thinking that alarm was going off everywhere. We then returned and I called the front desk who sent a maintenance staff along with 2 security guards. The guy replaced the bettery and everyone apologized for the inconvenience. Stuff happens so no big deal...

To end my review, I would say that it’s not a 4-star property and for the money one pays can do better in Orlando in a much better location. Sorry Grand Bohemian: we are not coming back…

“Great stay and the Grad Bohemian”

Grand Bohemian Hotel

Jul 17, 2008

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Grand Bohemian in Orlando. I especially found the Concierge, Mersiha Kearney, extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area. She recommended some great places to eat and was so nice to talk to!

Thanks for your professionalism!

My husband and I stayed at the GB for 3 nights. We enjoyed our stay particularly because of the outstanding service. Everyone was very nice, prompt and professional. I would like to single out the receptionist, Erica Cash and the bell captain, Jose. Both went out of their way to make our stay special! Thank you, Erica and Jose.
