My husband and I have stayed at the Grand Bohemian 4 times the past couple of years when he has to be in Orlando for work. We always have such an amazing time while there, and I am always sorry to leave.
On our most recent visit, I had to work in NYC for several days while my husband was in Orlando. I had planned to fly into Orlando to meet him and then we would drive to pick up our children from their visit with their grandparents. My husband surprised me by reserving a room at the G.B. so that we could have some time to ourselves before the kids and the long drive home.
I should mention that I had the opportunity to stay at the Four Seasons while in NYC, which was a first for me and it was fantastic. My husband even said when telling me about his "surprise", "Well, its not the Four Seasons, but I know you always enjoy the G.B.".
After the luxury of 3 nights in NYC, I was pleasantly surprised that our stay at the G.B. was just as delightful as the Four Seasons. It did not seem like a 'let down" in the slightest.
The rooms are beautifully appointed, with a touch of whimsy. Very "Moulin Rouge". The mix of velvet, satin and tapestry is just lovely. The rooms are so large, the shower is luxurious, the bar downstairs is hip and a great stop for drinks and convo before heading out for dinner.
The rooftop pool is super chic with its sleek furnishings, red pillows and chandeliers in the permanant tented lounge.
We like to take the family to Disney just as much as the next family, but do yourself a favor and take a little getaway to O-town, sans children, and enjoy the fun city life, great restaurants of Thorton Park, boutique shopping of Winter Park, and fabulous stay at the Grand Bohemian!
