“Great stay at the Yacht Club”

My husband & I stayed at the Disney's Yacht Club from April 19-25. The hotel is beautiful with a very "New England Seaside" feel to it. Our check-in was handled quickly by the very pleasant front desk staff and our standard room was very nice. One word of warning here though, we were on the front side of the resort right over bell services which was rather noisy-buses & garbage trucks & the magic express bus coming and going starting at 5:00am-talk about a loud wake-up every day! Our room was clean, spacious and nicely furnished. The proximity to Epcot and the Boardwalk could not be beat!! Just a nice 5-10 minute stroll to both & about a 10-15 minute stroll along the water to Hollywood Studios. Stormalong Bay was just the ticket for an afternoon away from the parks, the lazy river was very relaxing. The hotel also has movies on the beach at night. I didn't feel the "disney magic" here, it felt much more like a nice upscale hotel with great service, very nice decor & beautiful landscaping than "Mickey's House" but overall it was a great place to stay & I would stay here again.

“Good and bad”

Disney's Yacht Club Resort

We were booked into the Beach Club and when we went to check in found out that our room type was being refurbished. I asked why weren't we told of this when I made the reservation. They had no answer. So we were offered a better room at the Yacht club and would be given access to the conciear floor. Said ok but made them understand I reserved the right to change my mind. Room was nice on first look and had a nice view of the boardwalk and water. This is where things took a wrong turn. Upon futher review we found the room quite dated (Paint, TV old, fixures needed updating, etc). After 1 night we decided that since it was close to the pool and exit we would just stay here. We always tip the cleaning staff on the first night so we can get good service for our stay. That was $$$ wasted. No new toiletries and floor was not vacumed. Called housekeeping with promise to fix and nothing done. Finally called hotel manager and got week supply of toiletries but floor was never vacumed well. Pool was nice with most service people nice except for the tube rental person. Ate at 1 of the restaurants and food/service were good. The bus systems to all the parks is hit and miss. Mostly miss. Whole hotel needs an update at the prices they charge. Love the water parks

“Wonderful Stay!”

Disney's Yacht Club Resort

I highly recommend the Yacht Club. My husband and I with our children, ages 10 and 11, just returned from a Disney Land and Sea Package. The first part of our trip we spent four nights at Disney's Yacht Club.

About the bad reviews - if you are looking for a 5 star, Ritz Carlton experience, then this is not the hotel for you. But, if you are looking for a fun, laid back, all around good hotel (3.5 - 4 star), then the Yacht Club is a great place. Yes, the decor probably needs to be updated, but the rooms are clean and comfortable. Really, for as much time as you spend in your room, this is a fine property. And I truly believe if you look for the negatives, you will find them - if you are positive, then you will see the good.

Our room was on the second floor close to the elevators and stairs with two queen size beds and a day bed. The beds were very, very comfortable and the room was a decent size. The bathroom has the shower/toilet separate from the vanity which makes it easy for four people to get ready.

The very best part of the hotel is its amazing 3-acre sand bottom pool - the pool alone is worth the stay! The workout room looked very nice though we didn't use. We ate at the breakfast buffet in the Yacht Club twice, both times were very good. We grabbed clam chowder, sandwiches, and salads from the Market two nights while the kids swam.

The transportation system could be improved, but we all decided that it was not worth getting upset about. The buses are full because they stop at the Yacht, Beach, Boardwalk, Swan, and Dolphin Hotels - more than the other buses. You can take the boat to Epcot or walk. I do not suggest walking to Disney Hollywood Studios in the heat - take the boat.

We spent two days at the parks and two days at Downtown Disney - one day shopping and one day at Disney Quest.

I would definitely stay at the Yacht Club again - maybe next summer!

“Great location but service has declined...”

Disney's Yacht Club Resort

We have been big fans of Disney for years and have always stayed on property for the convenience. We have tried many different resorts but had not stayed at any of the villas until this trip.

Room location was great - we were able to see the fireworks from our balcony - and spacious enough but had several small problems that were directly related to service. Also were able to walk to a back entrance to Epcot with no lines! A big perk!

Upon checking into our room, we took off our shoes and our socks were immediately soaked! The rugs were just cleaned (a good thing I guess!) but the floors were thoroughly drenched. When we called downstairs they confirmed the rugs were recently cleaned and that we should open the balcony doors to help speed the drying process. I understood they couldn't change our room as we had committed to that particular villa for the week but still...

We ordered room service on Monday night and set the tray outside in the interior hallway after dinner. In the morning it had not been picked up. Upon returning from the parks that day, it was still in the hall (24 hours now). On our way out that evening, I stopped at the front desk to let them know it was still there and I would like it removed. Upon returning late that evening it was STILL THERE!

I called down to the front desk and asked them to have it removed. When we left midmorning on Wednesday it was STILL THERE!

I don't make a habit of misbehaving in hotels however after almost 2 days the food was getting a bit nasty in the humidity. Never mind that there was a maid's cart in the hall both mornings and it wasn't something she seemed interested in picking up. So I slid the tray into the middle of the hallway and left it there. If it was still there when I returned that day (it was not) I figured I would walk it downstairs and leave it on the reception counter.

A few years ago that tray would have disappeared moments after it was set down in the hallway - magically!

Staff service was not as helpful and friendly in the past overall. This Disney property has become "just another hotel" in my eyes, completely lacking the Disney service and attitude we have come to love.

“Yacht Club made our stay at Disney World an unforgettable one!”

Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Jul 30, 2008

Our family of 5 (kids ages, 13, 10 & 7) have been planning a Disney World trip for several years. At the time that we booked our vacation, a big decision was where we were going to stay. We read a lot of reviews, and from the reviews and talking to our travel agent (Yacht Club allows 5 to a room), we decided on the Yacht Club! It was one of the best decisions we made about our trip, and will stay again when we go back to Disney World. I don't know what other traveler's EXPECT when they go on vacation, but the hotel and rooms are very nice!!! For 5 people, we felt very comfortable. 2 queen beds and a day bed perfect for our 7 year old. They keep the hotel VERY clean, and are constantly keeping it that way! Our room was more than adequate and the maid service did an excellent job providing towels, and cleaning up the room each day. If you get the chance, take advantage of a day at the hotel. Our children insisted to skip an afternoon at Magic Kingdom to go back to the Yacht Club for a few hours to swim in their awecome beachside pool, and relax at the hotel. We are so glad we did. That was one of the best parts of our trip! Also, we recommend going to the "Market" at the Beach Club just next door for snacks and drinks for your room or to take along to the parks! We ate breakfast here almost every morning, and saved $$ because we decided NOT to take the dining plan. Also, the character restaurant at the Beach Club is well worth the money, but book as soon as you arrive as it fills up fast. We also recommend taking an evening to spend around the Boardwalk in the back of the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. There is always a lot to see and do that is entertaining, and we highly recommend taking a family bike ride on one of the Boardwalks bikes for 4 or 5. We had more laughs with this then we did all week. The staff is very friendly, and we were welcomed "home" every day after a full day at the parks. What a nice way to end the day. We would definitely stay here again! It was one of the best parts of our trip! I would say that if you only like the "Ritz" to stay, then go someplace else, but you would be missing out on a vacation of a lifetime!!!
