The Bubble Room Restaurant on Captiva Island, Florida is still our favorite.
It has been several years since we visited Captiva and we were so very happy to see that the Bubble Room has continued to provide an experience unlike any other.
The restaurant from the outside makes you smile.
It looks like Santa's Cottage with bright pastel colors and a yellow brick road leading to the entrance.
Inside, every inch of the walls are covered with antique toys and there are electric trains which circle overhead.
Big band music can be heard in the background and cheerful servers called "Bubble Scouts" are there to welcome.
There is an entire room "Santa's Workshop" with Santa and his elves, which can be seen from an elevated overlook.
"Bubble Bread" is served before the meal begins and it is delicious.
The food is good and plentiful but the deserts are amazing.
Anyway, it is refreshing to see that the Bubble Room continues to be an oasis of happiness for almost 30 years and we hope that it never changes.

The place could use a little bit of cleaning. The waitress was pretty nice. The food was decent. The home-made chips were very very good, and the orange-crunch cake and key lime pie were outstanding! My turkey-trot (turkey wrap) was just okay, a little pricey for just a sandwich that is a-la-carte! almost $8.00!! There is a room there that has this Wierd Christmas theme going on it, but I do like all (close to 3,000) pictures on the walls. At least they give you something to look at while you are waiting on your food.

Rated #3 restuarant in Captiva??!! (when writing this) Well that really deosn't say much for other restaurants on Captiva.

We went to this restaurant because my 6 and 7 year old children wanted to.

The first problem is that the Hostesses aren't particuarly friendly or welcoming the second and main problem is the smell of the place. It really hits you as soon as you walk in..a horrible old musty smell. Both my children immediately asked what that awful smell was. We went to the bar whilst we waited for our table. A dark dingy place with no atmosphere where the "scouts" weren't particulary friendly.

We then sat down.. I tried to refrain from looking at the extremely dirty Santa Claus flying above the table but everywhere I looked was just dirty looking and we couldn't escape the musty smell. (Even the napkins smelt musty) Basically after our appetizers we decided to leave. The food wasn't particuarly nice and we weren't having a good time.

This really is one of the worst restaurants we have ever eaten in and would advise people to avoid it at all costs.

I vacation in Captiva every year and the Bubble Room is part of the Captiva vacation experience. The food is good but I wouldn't go as far as saying it is great. The restaurant has a pretty eccentric and cool theme and the kids just absolutely love coming here to see the Christmas/ Hollywood-Kitsch theme. But the food is very pricey and the quality is just a notch above average. I had the Hot, Hot, Hot Shrimp dish and the shrimp were great. But the rice and accompaniments were bland. The Bubble Bread just had a shmear of cheese on it (where in the past it was nicely covered with the cream cheese-parmesan blend). The service I just received from my last trip was top-notch. However, my favorite part of the meal, dessert, was a huge dissapointment. The cakes have always been the Bubble Room's claim to fame, and on this visit my Red Velvet Cake did not taste as fresh as I would have liked. It tasted like they are mass producing the desserts and just stocking them in cases. For seven dollars a slice, patrons deserve better. Go for the fun; the food is really secondary.
