“I would never stay here again”

Not a great place. Horrible beds, dirty dishes, rat poop on the floor. I was told there was a beach across the street. It was a harbor for docking boats. The front desk staff was rude. We walked in to a half roll of toilet paper and there was not another roll to be found. We had to use kleenex we had taken from our previous hotel. We were supposed to stay 2 nights but I was so horrified after the first hour I made arrangements to leave the next morning. If you like expensive shops this is a good place as the coco walk is right behind the hotel and since we were on the eight floor we did have an excellent view but I would definitely not stay here again. Yuck

“Unfriendly Staff and Overbooked”

Mutiny Hotel

Booked a 3-night stay through Hotwire four months before visiting for U of M graduation. Arrived at 7pm Thurs. and was told by the front desk clerk, while he was on the phone, that they were overbooked. No one called to let me know in advance even though they had my contact information. He said the Mutiny would pay for us to stay at a nearby hotel for the night and to walk there (no offer for help with luggage). He said to come back in the morning and promised there would be a room the next night since I had prepaid reservations and they had to accommodate us. When we got to the nearby hotel there were 4 other guests from the Mutiny that were sent there too.

At 8am the next morning we went back and a different front desk clerk said they were still overbooked so we would have to stay at the nearby hotel again for that night. I asked for more information but he dismissed me and said the nearby hotel had all the information that I needed. Again no phone call was made to let me know there was no room available for that night's stay; I only found out when I returned to check in person.

The next morning was the last day of my reservation so instead of walking there in the heat I called to check. A different front desk clerk answered and said she didn't know anything about my situation, so I explained and she said she would have to check with the manager and someone would call me back. An hour and a half later I called back to get an update and the same clerk said they were still 'working on it' and that someone would definitely call me back before I had to check out of the nearby hotel for the day. Half an hour before checkout time I called again and she said they 'hadn't forgotten about me' but that they were still checking and would definitely call me back. I had to ask the nearby hotel for late checkout because the Mutiny still didn't have an answer for me. The 4th time I called I was finally given a manager to talk to who said he didn't know anything about my situation and he said he would look into it and call me back. I told him I had heard that before and he said that I hadn't spoken to him before so I should expect a callback from him in 5 minutes. He called back 10 minutes later and said to checkout of the nearby hotel and walk to the Mutiny, and things would be sorted out when I arrived. I told him I would rather know if I had a room before carrying my luggage over there. He said the Mutiny had other guests that were sent to other hotels because of the overbooking and that I was ‘lucky’ because some of them were sent to hotels closer to the airport, and I should be grateful that I was within walking distance.

When I finally did get a room, the bedding was torn, stained and worn, the pillows were thin and yellowed and the curtains were ripped. The closet door couldn't be opened all the way because the nightstand was in the way. The furniture layout was crowded and cramped. Fortunately the bathroom was clean and had nice toiletries.

When I checked out the next morning the front desk clerk refused to give me a receipt since the room was prepaid and there were no new charges. I asked him for one anyway and he said there was no point since it would have no balance and he walked away. There was no offer to help me with luggage and no offer to call for a taxi.

The best part of my experience with the Mutiny was the first two nights at the beautiful nearby hotel that they paid for (since they didn't offer me any other kind of compensation). Thanks Mutiny!

I just wanted to wright this beucase it was one of my best stays ever. I nneded to get away for the holidays, while i was looking around i found this nice quiet tucked away place outside the ordinary.. I wanted to spend a special time with my family during the holidays and i said let me take a chance. And let me tell you from check in to check out the staff, restaurant and Valet treated me like if this was HOME... The hotel decorations were put beautyfully , everyone was in the christmas spirit. The restaurant was on the money from the food to the serivce. SO I RECOMMED THE MUTINY HOTEL IN COCONUT GROVE.

The rooms were wonderful and the view to die for very relaxing and romantic.....

Congrats Mutiny Hotel Excellent Job.

“Stay away”

Do not stay at the Mutiny despite the good location. The rooms are dirty and worn. It was rusted in places, the blinds did not work and the bathroom counter was all stained instead of white. When we checked in there was hair all over the bathroom and dust all over the furniture. The room was anything but clean. The carpet did not seem to have been vacuumed in a long time. Housekeeping rearranged the dirt on a daily basis, but did not clean. The furniture remained dirty throughout our stay. All they did was change the dingy towels and change the sheets, if requested. The room itself was falling apart. The toilet did not work and the sink faucet broke during our stay. Also, the phone in the bedroom did not work. The one hook on the bathroom wall was falling down. There was no hot water one day and the maintenance person who came to "fix" the problem did not knock before entering the room. By the way, he did not fix the problem. There is a kitchen in each suite, but it was not clean either. In order to get ice, one has to go down to the restaurant and get it to bring up to the room. Our room seemed to be one of the only ones with carpet and the noise from other rooms was loud. You could here every step and voices from the adjacent rooms and the ones above and below. If you have a car, you are forced to valet it and pay the 24 hour fee. They even lost the keys to one of the guest's car. There is one waitress at the restaurant and the service is very slow. Expect to take one to two hours for breakfast. The food is decent compared to the rest of the place. The pool is tiny and not heated despite what it seems on the website, which is deceiving to say the least.

“Will Not Return”

Mutiny Hotel

The "hotel" (condo-tel) is in a good location and service is decent (except for the valet). Unfortunately I have nothing else nice to say about the hotel. The room was not clean (hair in the bathroom, dirt all over the furniture). However, the worst part was the noise at night. When we checked in the room was quiet. When we returned to the room for the evening the permanent resident in the condo next to our bedroom left his/her surround sound system on all night. I don't know if the walls are thin or if that resident is just downright inconsiderate, but we were not able to sleep that night. Checking out was the best part of our stay. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone that I liked and will not stay there again.
