“Nice change of pace for pre-cruise stay”

This hotel had a very European feel to it. Part of it is residential or long-term lease, while the rest is apartment style night-to-night rentals. While the accomodations were nice, they were nothing extravagant. But I have to admit for $150/nt compared to the chain hotels in downtown for more, this place had a lot more to offer.

A big perk is the neighborhood....easy walking to great neighborhood, casual restaurants. There is a great harbor and marinas with great boats to watch. All in all, the stay was a vacation away from that hectic vacation feeling. I'd stay there again without question.

In April of 2006, my wife and two grandchildren used the Miami Condo Oasis unit for four days. I had won the use of it at a charitable auction. I sent in the required application and a $250 deposit through Pay Pal. In addition, I had to pay $95 to have the place cleaned before we could use it.

As of this date, July 10th, the deposit nor the cleaning fee have not been returned, and I can not get a response from the owner. He does not return phone calls.

I feel that Trip Advisor should warn people about the use of Miami Condo Oasis at the Mutiny Hotel in Coconut Grove, Miami, Florida.

“Great view...Great location South/East Miami”

The area is great.......staff was wonderful from the Parking attendents to the front desk. Maid service was adequate. Rooms needed a good dusting and carpets were in sad shape. No washer and dryer as advertised. Room was non-smoking but there were visible burn marks on sofa bed and on bedspread in bedroom. Kitchen equipment was in working order. Staff should leave dishwashing detergent to run dishwasher. Parking was quick and efficient. Tipping didn't seem to get car any faster. But again ground floor staff was friendly and courteous.

“the mutiny is awesome”

The Mutiny in Coconut Grove was awesome. My wife and I went there(in our late 20's) after getting it off of Hotwire for $87/night. We told them it was our anniversary and they upgraded us to a 1 bedroom suite with a lovely view.

PROS- the staff is amazing. They were very attentive and if we asked the concierge or housekeeping for anything it was done immediately. They even got us on the guest list at the fancy south beach clubs including Privee

Rooms- the kitchen and living area were awesome. They had every appliance and brand new china and cookware. The living room had a tv, queen sofabed, and vcr and dvd player.

Bedroom was nice with a comfortable bed

Bathroom- was okay. Kind of small and did not have a bath tub. Did have bath and body works supplies though

POOL- was nice and private with towels, robes provided.

INSIDER TIPS

go to Cafe TU TU TANGO- it is affordable and nice. Get the Caya chicken wings and the MANGO BBQ pizza. ALso got to MAMBO- they have a special where you get a bottle of wine, an appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, and coffee for $34 total at night. Also they have a buisness center with high speed internet and a printer for free.

Parking- A lot behind the hotel for 5$ for an 8 hour period. Valet is 16 but worth it. They bring your car down super fast.

OVERALL we loved the hotel because of its location near cocowalk and all nice stores, restuarants. Only 15 minutes to south beach. THE staff is fabulous and the suites are nice

“"Miami Condo Oasis" -- pro's and con's of private condos”

Mutiny Hotel

3 of 5 stars

The Mutiny Hotel contains a number of private condos, some of which are rented by the owners. Some owners go through the Hotel's rental program, while others advertise on the Internet and rent directly. We made a reservation for a 2 bedroom condo at the Mutiny advertised as "Miami Condo Oasis" at FloridaVactions(--)

As a family of 4 we prefer the space in a 2 bedroom condo which has a separate living room/dining area, as well as 2 bathrooms. This condo is quite lovely, on the 7th floor overlooking the pool and the bay. The living room has a nice flat screen TV on the wall and good cable selections. The master bedroom is large and comfortable with its own attached bathroom, including bidet. There is no maid service, but there are plenty of linens and towels, and there is a washer/dryer in the unit.

The second bedroom is a bit of a disappointment. It is quite small and has bunk beds which fill up most of the space in the room. Small kids might find it fun, but our teenager preferred to sleep on the living room sofa.

Pro's: Lovely condo at a price which is about a third less than renting directly from the hotel; free parking

Con's:
1. No maid service

2. the A/C has a lock on it so you cannot adjust it yourself. While we were there it was set at 74, which was warmer than we like. Make sure the owner sets the temperature where you like it.

3. Although owner's units are entitled to free parking, there was a lot of confusion with security about using it.

4.Finally, the owner requires a $500 security deposit which is supposed to be returned after 2 weeks. It look me a month to get our security deposit back, and only after the owner lied to me twice about having put it in the mail. Only when I was about to start making complaints to the hotel, to Pay-Pal (which he uses to receive payments), and to the sites he advertises at did he return my money via pay-pal. This was an unnecessary annoyance.
