Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights pre-cruise. Very nice room. Great free breakfast and coffee service. Didn't use pool but it seemed nice. Business office offered free internet access which was very helpful. There was a small pantry selling snacks at absolutely ridiculous prices. Only reason to use the pantry would be to avoid leaving the grounds of the hotel. The surrounding area is pretty run down. There are no restaurants except a few fast food places. I didn't feel very safe in the area, especially at night. The hotel has gated parking that you need a room key to access. It seemed fairly secure, but I can see how someone with bad intentions could easily hop the fence and break into a car and then throw the stolen goods back over the fence. I noticed that the door at the back of the hotel near the eating area that is locked at night (need room key to open) got stuck open a couple of times when we were going through it with our bags. We had to put down our stuff and pull it shut. If you didn't realize that it wasn't going to close behind you, it could end up being open all night long. If someone wanted to jump the fence and access the hotel this way it would be easy. I appreciate the manager's response on this site, but I do have to say I am disturbed by the guest's report of a poor response from the hotel. That would be a very traumatic thing to have happen. If the break-in wasn't discovered until 7:30 AM, it shows the security guard wasn't patrolling the grounds at all. Knowing the neighborhood that this hotel is in and the lack of effort from the security guard and poor response from the hotel to the other guest's break-in, I have to say I won't stay at this hotel again.

Dear Guest,
Thank you so much for posting your review at Trip Advisor as our guests’ comments and suggestions mean so much to us.
I am glad to hear you noticed we invested in making our hotel a safe and tranquil place for our guests and staff, as you mentioned some of our security features in your review.
We offer gated parking for our guests and it is offered as is self- parking. Our hotel, as any other building in America that offers self-parking, is not responsible for any items left in the cars and our building has signs to that effect posted throughout the parking area that informs to our guests and visitors.
One of the main reasons this is common practice is the simple fact that at no time we have access to the cars, their interior or their contends when they are parked by our guests so, we cannot attest to their factual contends. No one can.
It is common knowledge that anyone should not leave their valuables or possessions unattended, especially at clear sight to others. I would not be able to have a good night sleep knowing that I left my laptop, jewelry, suitcases and other valuable possessions on the back seat of my car, Visible by anyone who walks by and protected just by a glass window, Would you? In every city in America, authorities advise the public to do exactly the opposite
.
You probably also noticed that we provide several luggage carts just at the door to the parking area to make the transporting of the luggage from the parking to the rooms very easy and convenient.
Our hotel is the only one in the area to provide gated parking, key card access to elevators and other areas as well as other secuity measures that our competitors preferred not to invest on.
Since we opened in 2000, we hosted almost a half-million guests without any incidents. Your review tates that you can see how someone could jump the fence but perhaps you did not notice that fence actually goes all the way to the ceiling and there fore, will not allow anyone to jump over it.
Our security guard patrols the areas on a periodic basis and any doors found opened will be closed at that time. For security reasons I cannot give too much information away so I cannot write here the hours, frequency and areas that are patrolled but I can assure you that we gave a lot of thought and attention to the security guard procedures and positions and the system has been in place since we opened without any issues.
Trip Advisor lists over 130 of our guests’ reviews since 2004 and I encourage you or any other visitor to the site to read them. I am sure you will be reassured by these reviews that our property is one of the safest around. It is actually provided by a nation-wide company that is even responsible for the security of several government buildings. They are not cheap but our guests and staff worth the investiment.
Again, thank you very much for your comments.
Cordially,
Eduardo Chapoval
