“Really great views!”

Hilton Miami Downtown

5 of 5 stars
Washignton, DC
Nov 13, 2008

We've stayed in a few hotels in Miami and have to say that the view in the room that we had was INCREDIBLE. We could see our cruise ship, the bay, the city skyline and all the way to the beaches. We were on the 17th floor facing east. The room was large, comfortably appointed and clean. There were ongoing renovations at the hotel, but we were not really disturbed by it. We had a nice room service meal - the Cobb salad was very good, as was the steak my husband ordered. I will stay here again.

I booked this hotel trough hotwire.

When i saw a hilton hotel i was excited about it.

The hotel is very nice and clean. The beds are so soft and confortable.

I didn't like the parking U$ 28,00 per day, i think is so expensive because i payed U$ 67,00 for one nighte, so it's almost 50%.

I would like to start by saying this was the worst hotel experience I have ever endured, let alone paid for. From the beginning, we ate in the buffet and were misinformed of the price, then charged an 18% gratuity, when it took my "waitress" 15 minutes to bring me a cup of coffee...which was her ONLY trip to my table. The food was ridiculous and we found ants on the muffins, which was disgusting, but forgiveable, at this point. We then went to the front desk to check in and asked for suggestions for pizza delivery because we weren't from around there. The front desk agent simply replied, "Oh, there's Dominoes and stuff", and that was the end of it. We checked in to our room and settled in. At about 11pm, a man, who I am assuming was a maintenance man, attempted to ENTER OUR ROOM. Luckily, we had the latch on, but he actually put in the key, unlocked it, and tried to come in, without so much as a knock. As I wake from my sleep and go in to the bathroom, I notice DRIED BLOOD on the toilet. I had had it with the place at that point. Be assured, I have already contacted the Miami Health Services Department with that one. Moving on: the air conditioner in our room was clearly malfunctioning, it went on and off every 15 minutes with an EXTREMELY loud screeching and grinding noise, probably why the man tried to enter our room. To top it all off, when I took a shower the next morning, there was ABSOLUTELY NO HOT WATER. I'm not an idiot, I know how to work a faucet, there was simply no hot water. I will never stay at a Hilton again. I have been a longtime Starwood member and rightly so. We made a reservation last-minute or I would have never stayed there in the first place, but believe me, I have learned my lesson! I only paid $111 for the room, not including the ridiculous $48 for breakfast, but I wouldn't stay at Hilton Miami Downtown again.

I am very sorry for your experience and can assure you that it was not normal for our establishment. I am also sorry that although we had refunded your stay and breakfast that you were still not satisfied.

I do hope you will give us another opportunity in the future.

“Unimpressive - no real point to staying there”

Hilton Miami Downtown

Oct 25, 2008

Stayed there for a business conference and have to say I was less than impressed. Everything was just about average. On-site restaurant was simply okay, surrounding neighborhood was very blah, and the staff was ambivalent.
Due to on-site construction, elevator service was horrible. And a lot of construction in the "motor lobby" on the ground floor.
Finally, despite the name, it's not really downtown per se, but a 5 minute drive from downtown. Unless you have a rental car, you're at the mercy of taxis to find an interesting neighborhood since this one is so bland.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I understand you concerns with the elevators and as of today, the contruction on the elevator is complete.

I hope you will try us again in the future as we are nearing the end of the renovation and the hotel will be one of the top in Miami.

“HIlton Downtown Miami - Highs and Lows”

Hilton Miami Downtown

Oct 23, 2008

A group of three of us stayed at this motel during October 9th thru October 13th. My opinion is that this motel was extremely unorganized during this time. Upon arrival at the motel my party was told that we couldn't be checked into a room despite paying our trip in advance because they were having issues receiving payment from the vendor. We had our payment receipts and confirmations in hand and had also called in advance to confirm before arriving. We have to stand around for about two hours before being checked in. Upon checking in the room they assigned us was the wrong type. We had to go back downstairs to be assigned another room. When were assigned a new room the keys didn't work so we had to go back to have them activated. The room we finally received was very nice. We stayed in 724 which was a one bedroom suite. It was very spacious and well kept. On the upside the manager bought us dinner and drinks at the restaurant for our inconvenience at check-in and he was very apologetic and nice. The food at the restaurant was excellent and the service was great. For the most part the staff was very professional and on top of their job. There was a male bartender that in my opinion was very rude, unprofessional and obviously doesn’t like his job, but that was my only negative encounter. We didn't rent a car upon arrival, but met a really nice cab driver who took us everywhere we wanted to go for the whole time we were there. This was an expensive option, but it was convenient since neither of us in the party was familiar with Miami. One of the downsides to this motel is the location. There is no food or entertainment around. There is a Checkers and a Burger king across the street. Overall the stay at this Hotel was satisfactory.

I am sorry to hear about the confusion upon check in, but I am glad to hear that we resolved the situation.

As for the area, please check with our concierge during your next stay. There are several great entertainment options within walking distance of the hotel, and readily available public transportation.
