The Island Place Inn Key West, FLThere were parts of the room that you could tell someone had tried very hard to make nice. Two or three pieces of new furniture, reasonably new tropical print linens and curtains. But it was as though they hadn't finished this room yet. The faucet in the bathroom would not rotate to hot water, so my husband had to reach in and out of the shower to shave. The shower(and this is the only thing that was really bad) was dirty, tiles were cracking loose, grout was black, and the shower curtain was dirty. You got two pencil thick streams of water from the shower head if you braved going in, and we decided the best idea was to wear flip flops while showering. The refrigerator would not freeze ice. It did have a microwave and coffee maker, both worked. the carrousel plate was gone from the microwave. The Ironing board had to be propped against your hip when you pressed anything, or it would fall down due to a loose leg. The front window had very thin curtains (pretty) at them, so if you had lights on after dark, anyone walking by couldn't help seeing right in. They did have mini blinds at the other windows, (creating privacy where no one could see in any way) and brackets for, but no curtains. Contrary to the claims in the ad, there was no hot tub, no phone, and very little that they claimed. The property wasn't even at the address that is listed, and we never located anything that looked like the picture on the ad. Housekeeping did come in and leave a pile of towels and spread the comforter up on the bed, but didn't empty the garbage or fill the empty paper towel holder. We only reserved two nights, and we did not stay the second night. We took an afternoon nap, and got in the car and drove home. We affectionately refer to this as the vacation from hell. Thank God it's over!
