My husband and I just reurned from a trip to the Heron House. I read these reviews often so I felt it was only fair to give you our experience.

The room: Very B&B, we stayed by the pool and had a queen bed and a nice bathroom. Some of the rooms only have a shower but we requested a tub. The bed, although we are used to a king bed, was very comortable. In fact the covers and pillows were super cozy. The room had a tiny TV way up at the top of the wall, but we did not watch it much. The towels were very thick and plush and they had nice shampoos and lotions. The bathroom was large enough for both of us and the tub was also roomy enough for two people.

The grounds: Very pretty and colorful. They had a fish tank that was amazing and a nice area to lock up your bikes.

Pool: small, but no one was ever in it so it was ample enough. Clean and pretty

Breakfast: Very nice. Coffee cake, eggs, bagels and toast.

Wine: We had heard you get offered a glass when you check in..no one offered us anything. The did have a wine and cheese night on Friday night and the wine was nice but the crackers were very soft and stale..but I am sure the key west weather played a part.

Cell phones: None are allowed. You can't really talk inside your room because of reception...and there are some nice cozy nooks outside where you could sit and call home but they fuss at you if they see you. I understand they would like peace and quiet but they take this rule very seriously.

Noise: There was not a peep...in fact, there was nothing too social about the hotel. Most everyone kept to themselves and you always felt like whispering. which I guess is fine because they want their guests relaxed. The age groups were 50's to 70's when we were there. We are in our 30's.

Staff: Most everyone was very nice. We had about 3 occassions were we felt a tiny bit "unwelcomed". I can't put my finger on it but a few of the staff members just did not seem too friendly. Or maybe we just got them on a bad week. The man who checked us in was very nice.

Overall it was a lovely vacation. I would consider staying there again.

We recently stayed five nights at the Heron House. Even with Hurricane Gustav churning in the Gulf and a couple of days of off and on rain, we had an enjoyable experience. What we liked the most was the proximity of the Heron House to Duval Street, close enough, however, far enough away for quiet and peaceful evenings at the Heron House. The room was clean, private, and comfortable. On one of the days we ate at the continental breakfast at 8am, it was below average food (they can do much better in presentation and selection if they wanted to), however coffee was good. We mostly ate breakfast on Duval Street restaurants. Overall it was an above average stay, I would recommend this B&B to any of my family and friends.

Just returned from a five days in Key West & three weeks in St.Petersburg.
Stayed at Heron House for the first five days, my only regret is not staying longer.
I could not fault the facilities, accommodation or staff in any anyway.
Heron House is located in a quite area, one block away from Duval Street & a short walk to the centre.
In contrast with St.Petersburg the best thing of all, quite & no children running around.
Would we book again, most certainly we already looking at availability for next year.
A great way to see the Key West is via bi-plane from the local airport.

Our recent stay was very enjoyable!!! The accomadations were perfect, and clean! The staff is very attentive, and we enjoyed Michael's pleasant manner in the morning at a delicious breakfast which he continually kept filled. It was also a pleasure to deal with Josh and Cynthia in the office who were always professional and friendly!!
