Just left Cru. We went for a mother's day brunch with a party of 13. We were all in from out of town and Cru was recommended as one of the nicest in Ft. Meyers. We were seated in a nice back room so it started out promising. However, each of our drinks were brought out one at a time (we all ordered mimosas) and we had to wait about 20 minutes until all of the drinks made it to the table.
Of the 13 brunch entrees - 2 were correct. Most of the ones that were incorrect were missing sides, or had the totally incorrect sides. However, I ordered the "fritatta of the day" which I was told was spinach, goat cheese and tomatos. First, I received a tomato, pepper and onion omlet. The waiter apologized and said he would bring me my fritatta. He came back in a minute with the same omlet I had sent back, but he had opened it and put cheese on top. I told him again, that I had ordered the fritatta of the day, with the spinach, goat cheese and tomatoes. He apologized, the manager came out and apologized - my fritata was promised in "just a few minutes".
As everyone was about to order dessert, my "fritatta" came out - it was a bacon and mushroom omlet. I didn't send this one back, obviously there is a huge lack of communication between the wait staff and the kitchen.
I went to Publix for a turkey hoagie on my way back to my in-laws. As far as I am concerned Cru can learn a lot about service and writing down the correct orders from Publix.
I am from Philadelphia where we are spoiled with great restaurants and great service. So I sincerely hope this was just an off day at Cru. But if I am ever in the area again with a large party, we will save the $400.00 we just spent at Cru and get $4.75 hoagies at Publix instead.
