My wife and I were on a recent visit to Ft. Myers to visit friends and they wanted to take us to Cru because they had heard so much about it. I have to say that I am thankful they made the decision.
I have eaten in many overpriced, overrated restaurants so I do consider myself somewhat tough to please, but beginning to end this was an excellent experience.
They really have a diverse menu that lets you try a wide array of fabulous food, and doesn't hurt they have a sushi chef on staff who I also believes does pastries.
We jumped in with some sashimi that was as good as any high end sushi restaurant and had the spicy crab rolls recommended, which are a must. After these amazing starters, the meal only got better. For entrees at our table, there were two ostrages, one scallop order, and I had the bone-in ribeye. I tried everything and could not find a flaw in any entree. The ribeye was exceptional. My wife had a lobster tail with her scallops and it basically melted in your mouth and burst with flavor. Don't go away with out dessert. The carrot cake was the favorite at our table.
The wine list was excellent and reasonably priced. Even more impressive, one of the owners came out to our table to open up our wine and chat a little about their restaurant and what was behind it. They grabbed their chef from a well known Bonita Springs restaurants and he is CIA trained...and it shows.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants very good food. It is not pretentious at all, and really is all about the food. Don't miss it if you have the chance.
Oh...almost ended this review without mentioning the truffle fries. I saw someone else mention them in their review, and just plan on getting an order for the table when you go!
