“Good location, okay hotel, Great staff”

We got an amazing deal booking this hotel with a flight package on Travelocity, so the room worked out to less than $60 per night. That said, for the price, this was a great vacation spent in Fort Lauderdale over Thanksgiving week.

The location is key. You have a private walkway to the beach, a great pool and bar at the hotel, are within close proximity to the water taxi and marina for boat rentals and other fun activities, etc.
We really enjoyed exploring Ft. Lauderdale in general, and this is a good central hotel to do this from, especially if you don't have a car.

The staff is great. 99% of our interactions involved excellent customer service and they seem to try to go out of their way to make guests happy.

The room had one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. Not the biggest room ever, but the bed is SO important to me when I am on vacation. Kudos to the hotel for investing in a good mattress and linens.

The cons:
No hot water in our shower off and on for five days during our stay. sometimes it was warm, sometimes it wasn't. that part sucked.
The main restaraunt leaves a bit to be desired. limited menu, limited hours, and feels more like a lobby lounge than a real dining environment. drinks and food are a bit pricy for what you get in general...i'm not use to paying $8 for a mixed drink, but this also seemd to be on par with drink prices all over the city.
The hotel in general is in need of a an overhaul/remodel. Carpets are old and dingy. At times, the lobby smelled like wet dog? 1/3 of the chairs at the pool were broken. Wallpaper in our room had been scribbled all over presumably by a guest's kid with a crayon. Various dings, scratches, paint chips, etc. everywhere throughout the property. Again, we paid less than $100 per night, so this was not expected to be first class hotel, but we hope the the future they will put more attention into aesthetics.

We will return again for future vacations to Florida, but only if we get the same deal with a vacation package. I would probably not pay the full $200 or whatever their standard room rate is for this property.

“Great location”

Bahia Mar Beach Resort was a great location. You do not need a car, only 4 miles from airport. Nearby was a water taxi with 11 stops; on and off all day for one time price. On weekends there was a trolley with 2 routes and severals stops on each. A short walk to the main street of the beach with many restaurants and shops. Nice views from the hotel.

Great hotel if you like boats and beach. Staff was very receptive to any questions; gave us a free upgrade without asking and we were able to get wireless as our room was within range (at no cost) Food is pricey but not unexpected.) We booked on a TravelZoo holiday special (1/2 off and was well worth it) Hotel is alittle old but the rooms were spotless.We often visit Ft Lauderdale and will always stay here if we can get a good rate.

Just concluded my second stay at Bahia Mar; was here a year ago, also for Thanksgiving week.

No complaints about this nicely-maintained and well-run hotel, which has great ocean views and standing-only balconies in the tower section... a real plus that adds to the "being-right-on-the-beach" experience.

Staff is excellent: bellboy Brian recommended a good restaurant and responded immediately to a request for an extra lamp; it was there within 5 minutes. Front-desk guy Greg quickly had a minor problem fixed (a handset on one of the room's two phones wasn't working right), and hand-delivered an important message. I asked concierge Stephanie where I could find a store to scan a photo, and she said "Come to the lobby, I'll do it myself", which she did. And hotel manager Glenn is always available and pleasant and responsive to any need.

Not sure why one reviewer had a hot water issue; over 8 days, I took showers at all hours of the day and never had a problem.

The pool area is great with nice lounge chairs; beach area near hotel is nice, but to rent the city's similar lounge chairs, you have to walk about 3 blocks north on the beach, which is a slight drawback. The hotel rents smaller beach chairs if you like those.

Good a/c in the room and a fridge is important to me, and Bahia Mar has both; will stay here again.

The stay at the hotel was great....maybe the music at the pool was a little loud..but a great blend of music. The room was clean and service excellent....I will return
