We chose this hotel because we had Airmiles to use. We have stayed in a few different hotels on Daytona Beach and we wanted something again right on the beach.

The front desk staff was friendly enough, the evening staff more than the day staff. The room was on the 8th floor I believe across from Ocean Deck restaurant. It was very loud at night because it turns into a nightclub. The room was bright and overall clean enough, however; the balcony door did not close right. The bathroom was not cleaned very well in the very nooks and crannies. The room was covered in sugar ants!!! They were everywhere!! They don't bite, and it is hard to tell exaclty what they are but gross. We had to ask 3 seperate times to have someone come up and spray.

The hotel maid was very loud and obnoxious, she was quite intrusive actually. It was not my favorite place, but once they cleaned out the ants it was not the worst either. The bar went all night but we were so tired from being in sun all day we managed to sleep though it. My end though is that they should not charge what they charge for there rooms. With lower prices I may reconsider again if bug free.

We stayed here because it was booked as part of an included group travel.

Pretty good location right on the beach.

We refused the first room we were given due to the fact that the maid had left garbage bags all over the floor and the bed. And the toilet was blocked..........not a good start!!

However, the receptionist was very apologetic and 'upgraded' us to a larger room with kitchen. This room was ok though some of the furniture was a little tired and the tv appeared ancient though worked ok. The poorly fitting windows and doors couldn't keep the late night noise from the bar next door out. A biggest concern was that one day my wife returned to the room midday and found the door open meaning anyone could have walked in. Luckily nothing had been taken. The Housemaid admitted to it and said that she often did it whilst cleaning but must have forgot to close it when she'd finished. Didn't inspire confidence.

We returned to the hotel one night and went to go in the bar but found it closed. The girl said that she'd closed it because we English didn't give her enough tips!! The reason behind this was that she never smiled whilst serving and had a poor attitude and the bar didn't appear to keep much stock.

We won't be returning!

We recently spent one night at this hotel. The rate was 200 per night. The room was small, smelled like smoke and the floors were so dirty my socks turned brown. The bathroom was dirty and just plain nasty. There was no lock on the balcony door, and the front door had one broken lock, never removed and two others installed. If it had not been an event we would not have stayed. This hotel needs a serious review, it does the best western name no good and after this stay I will seriously reconsider staying at a best western hotel again. I feel like I have been ripped off. I travel quiet a bit and honestly have found nicer hotels in china, let alone on the beach in Daytona. I really do feel that I have been mislead by the fact that a hotel in this bad of shape is able to maintain this hotel chains name. I was embarresed that I had to have my family stay here, but at the hour we came back to the hotel and realized where we were it was to late to change. I checked out in the morning without even showering.

“Good value, ideal beachside location”

Best Western Mayan Inn Beachfront

We stayed for 2 nights at the beginning of a Florida trip. The hotel was on the beachfront reasonably close to suitable bars, restaurants, shops, etc.
The hotel is a standard hotel which is probably due some upgrading. It was however good value in our view (about $75 per night). We stayed in a oceanfront room ($10 more) with two double beds which were reasonably comfortable. At the time of our stay the weather was extremely humid (rain and windy), and we did sense a dampness about the room, especially from the carpet. For that, our room was spotlessly clean so it was either something related to the weather or the air-conditioning.
The hotel supplies simple complimentary breakfasts, cereals, rolls, coffee, etc which we thought was fine. The bar next door did a reasonable meal (steak & ribs type stuff) at sensible money $15 or so.
It was only a shortish drive to the Daytona Speedway track which was an interesting 2 or 3 hour tour (probably much more interesting if you know something about Nascar).
All in all we liked Daytona and will visit again as there is plenty in the area to see and do. We will probably not stay at this Best Western, but wouldn't want to put anyone off, it is a decent hotel that we thought was good value and probably ideal for a family beach-type holiday, maybe after a week of Disney? For British visitors, it is an easy journey to/from Sanford Airport.

The view is fabulous from 8th floor!! We booked this hotel for 5 nights completely sight unseen. I have stayed in other hotels in Daytona/ormond beach over the years and just wanted to try something different and had no idea what to expect. I read the reviews and they were mixed so we decided to just see for ourselves. The room was roomy and clean, the bed was comfortable and did I mention the oceanfront view? I have stayed in the newer hotels that can even be a little less money, but the location(no drive zone) was perfect. Food, shops, ocean's walk.
About the negatives. Yes the hotel is a little older, the elevator a little slow, and the doors can stick. It IS a beach hotel. People will use the ocean and walk into the hotel wet and sandy so some dirt and wetness will be par for the course.
We will definately stay here again.
