Our visit to KSC for a weekend was with another couple, no children. Despite the less than favorable reviews we read about this resort, we decided to book a weekend in a 2 BR 2 BA unit. It was built in 2004, so figured it was better than any of the other motel/hotels on the row. Called to get availability and price quote to share information with the other couple. We all agreed to book the unit since it was cost effective and less than two hotel rooms, so called again. This time I received even a lower quote. This was within 24 hours of the first call, so if you are interested in staying here be sure to call more than once...it may be in your favor!
We read how the pillows were bad, so we brought ours since we live in Florida and drove. But the pillows provided seemed to be fine. Also a review said bathroom tissue was limited, but we found many rolls in the bathroom. The bed linens and towels were OK...nothing fancy. They do not supply lotions or shampoo, only bar soap. The decor was Ron Jon beachy bright. We did stay in the main building but faced the side street. Maybe this unit (A1403) seemed in very good condition because it doesn't get much rental use. The kitchen was more than adequate with paper towels, sponges, etc. Do wish they had more fixed hangers in the closet. The A/C did not cool the master & bath as well as the rest of the unit. No plastic glassware available so bring with, if you can.
There was a noise factor to be considered. Could hear the sliding doors of other units and also the lanai plastic furniture being scraped along the lanai. Did not try the restaurants since reviews were terrible. The lazy river and water slide was fun. Unfortunately the spa was not up to temperature and when my husband notified the attendant, she could have not cared less. Nothing was done to improve the temp. But the staff is standing guard at the pool entrances to make sure you have the pool wristbands on!!!
Before the 10AM checkout time, housekeeping tried to enter twice to begin cleaning the unit. It's a mess leaving the resort at 10AM, everyone is leaving! Be sure to get a luggage cart in the room located just past the reception desk. No one told us they were available until we hauled everything to the elevator and a guest who exited had an empty one.
If you don't have to have the beach, stay in the main building. The pool and all other features are here. Otherwise you rely on a tram to transport you from beach building to pool, market, miniature golf, etc. Watched a guy with a bag of ice walking the road to the beach building. Not sure he made it back before melted, as it's about a mile between buildings.
Drove over to The Cove along the channel where the cruise ships depart for bar scene and dinner. It's very close. This is where it is happening! Also drove into Cocoa Beach and ate at Cocoanuts on the beach. View cannot be beat. Food came out fast and hot.
