“The Perfect Romantic Spot”

Villa Royale Inn

5 of 5 stars
Los Angeles, ca
Sep 22, 2008

My husband and I travel to Palm Springs a few times a year, looking for that perfect spot to relax and unwind. We try a different place each trip, hoping each time that we'd finally found it. Well, this time we hit the jackpot. We are ultra picky about quiet, private seclusion, and that's what The Villa Royale is all about. The customer service is outstanding, and the grounds are lovely and meandering. We stayed in their smallest room (301) and it was very small, but cozy and intimate. We had the little courtyard pool just outside our room all to ourselves for several hours. (The two pools and jacuzzi are open 24 hours for optimum romance) Best of all, it's a QUIET, adults preferred property, so no screaming kids will ruin your interlude. The breakfast was outstanding, too. Loved it!

“Always the Best”

Villa Royale Inn

May 1, 2008

I have been visiting this B&B since the 1980's. I first paid $60 a night, and while that price has gone way up, my expectations have always been pleasantly met. The only thing I miss is that they are moving away from each room themed as a different country. Now they seem to be decorating in "generic european" rather than a specific local. I liked the funky old relics of different countries and I miss them. Still, the place is kept clean and delightful and holds many great memories for me.

“Quiet, Quaint and cozy”

Villa Royale Inn

Apr 6, 2008

I stayed for a relaxing weekend in the warm sun and was pleasantly surprised by this Inn. You can never be assured that what you are booking will be up to your standards, but this place exceeded them. Very helpful, honestly nice staff and you always saw the same faces so they were familiar. The buildings were very secluded (almost hidden) even though it is off a pretty major throughfare. You would hardly know there was anyone around but you. So quiet and peaceful. The grounds are beautiful and overgrown without being out of control. When you are sitting at the pool you see nothing but the mountains and palms around you. No telephone wires, street lights, other buildings...quite amazing in a big town.

The restaurant was lovely with delicious food. The breakfast served in the a.m. was very generous and good. Nice touches such as fresh squeezed juice and warm, freshly baked muffins. I will definitely return and am very glad to have been there.

“Last minute trip...great find! Palm Springs best kept secret!”

Villa Royale Inn

4 of 5 stars
Anaheim, California
Mar 30, 2008

My husband and I just got back from a weekend at The Villa Royal Inn, Palm Springs and I couldn't believe what a beautiful find this hotel was. This weekend was my husbands birthday and I had originally booked a hotel in Desert Hot Springs for a couples getaway. Booking throught the internet is such a gamble on what exactly you will find when you get to your hotel and all I could say is I thought we had just checked into The Bates Motel. I was so disappointed I felt as if I had ruined the weekend.
We decided to drive into Palm Springs to see what we could find. This was 8pm on Friday night. I jumped on my lap top got on Expedia and there was about 5 hotels in Palm Springs that had availability. We settled on The Villa Royal Inn. We didnt call we decide to just drive there. Between the lap top and our GPS navigation we had just changed our vacation fate within 30 minutes thanks to technology.
We drove up to the Villa Royal to find a beautiful quaint garden entrance with an inviting fountain. We walked in asked to book a room for 2 nights and we were shown to our guestroom overlooking the main pool. The courtyard was beautiful with lounge chairs around th pool, beautiful flowers and the bouganvilleas were in full bloom and gorgeous.
The room was perfect! Queen size bed, soft sheets, very very clean bathroom with a vanity area, fridge, complimentary bottled water, robes. The next morning we had breakfast in the restaurant (Europa Restaurant) it was a complimentary breakfast and it was not a continental it was a full breakfast. You had 5 choices served with coffee, oj or hot tea and Blueberry muffins.
Every morning there is coffee & hot tea served in the lanai with newspapers out. Every afternoon there is Ice Tea & cookies! How is that for uniqueness?! We loved it.
The second night we switched rooms and we taken to a larger room with a king size bed, walkin closet, a much larger bathroom, a fireplace and a small outdoor patio. We paid a small amount for the upgrade. The hotel was booked so we had no choice but it was so worth it. One of my favorite things about this room was there was a creek outside that created a very peaceful atmosphere for us. Just a great experience and so relaxing and romantic.
We took a taxi to downtown PS for dinners and it was a short $8 cab ride. We swam in both pools on Saturday afternoon lounged by the pool and enjoyed the perfect tempatures of booth pools. We will definitely be going back. This is Palm Springs best kept secret!

“Peaceful, Secluded, Elegant”

Fabulous! Quiet & secluded yet convenient to downtown PS.
I just spent three wonderful days by myself at this historic gem.
The property oozes history and elegance, and the staff is very friendly and laid back. The two pools are wonderfully bathtub warm, the views are gorgeous and the on-site restaurant Europa is a foodie's heaven. If you are seeking a romantic weekend or a peaceful hideaway, this is it! I would NOT recommend going here with kids of any age. they would be bored by all the peace and quiet :)
