“VIP Experience is pure class”

We decided to splash out a little and do the V.I.P. Universal Studios Experience and made the best choice. We were met at the entrance by our tour guide Jerry and given ponchos, bottled water and a park guide. The V.I.P. tour has only up to 20 people on it so you get a really personal experience. We went into the props store, on the set of Crossing Jordan and on a backlot tour which included the sets of Nacho Libre, Spiderman 1 & 2, Bruce Almighty and Back to the Future. As a special treat we also got to drive down Wisteria Lane from Desperate Housewives which was fabulous. We got front row entry on all rides including Jurassic Park and Backdraft which were fantastic! Although a few of the rides are a little dated, the newer ones certainly make up for it! If you are thinking of visiting Universal Studios for the 1st time, pay the extra and go V.I.P. as it is well worth the money and if Jerry is your guide, it'll be one of the best days of your holiday!

Quite a fun place.
check out free books in your hotel rooms, they have discount coupons..got 10$ off the 61$ price. i also saw few people distributing 8$ off coupons at hollywood walk of fame

dont buy the front of line pass. its 100$+, the day i went the queues were were very short. we got on to most attractions within 10 minutes.

do the studio tour, try to sit in the first carriage and to the sides. try to see everything on the higher floor before going down, as you wont have the time to go up and down.

take towels or change of clothes, as in jurrasic park ride you will get soaked (we did that 3 times)

“Fantastic Day”

I really enjoyed this trip and thanks to my fellow trip advisors who gave excellent tips. First of all take the studio tour, the queues get really long quickly. This was the best part for me. Forget the people that say its outdated, if you haven't been and you like movies and television you will love it, the best part for me was riding up Wisteria Lane, which we could do as they weren't filming. After the tour take the long escalator rides down to the lower level.
I enjoyed the Jurassic Park Ride and the Special Effects Stages. We queued a long time for Revenge of the Mummy Ride, and to be honest I didn't feel it was worth it. We didn't do Backdraft, as we were too hot already and Terminator 2 3D was closed for a function. On the top
level we did the Back To The Future Ride, which was good and quite scary enough for me, and the excellent Shrek 4D. I got all the special effects in this show sitting in the middle, but my husband didn't. As for the WaterWorld Show, don't miss it, it was excellent, but don't sit near the front if you don't want to get wet. The usual takeaway eateries are here.

“I guess I'm Just Old”

I think that I must have got old and boring, but I consider Universal Studios Hollywood to be about as close to hell on earth as I have ever experienced. It is loud, brash, chaotic and not for the faint of heart. The tour had its moments as it was exciting to see sets from War of the Worlds, Jaws and Desperate Housewives. However, many of the experiences include loud noises and lurching movements. We went on the Shrek 4D experience which quite simply made me feel ill. There are lots of people leaping out and offering to take photographs or sell you something. Perhaps if you like noise, violent rides and over-stimulation then Universal Studios is the place for you. For me, however, I was very glad to get away. After spending a small fortune on front of line passes, the 3 hours I spent at Universal Studios was an experience not to be repeated. If you're old and dull like me, then I suggest you try the VIP tour at Warner Studios. Much less stressful and doesn't make you nauseous.

“Not as good as Orlando”

If you've been to Univeral Studios in Orlando, you will be definately dissappointed with this park. Overall it is half of what Orlando is. We were quite dissappointed.

We got the first in line pass, which is a must in Orlando. But you don't need it here, because there were barely any lines. Of course we went on a Monday in mid-May, which may have explained it. You need that kind of pass all the time in Orlando.

However, the Universal Studio lot tour was excellent! That made up for most of it. It brings you through Wysteria Lane on "Deperate Housewives" and the jet crash site in "War of the Worlds". They use a real, broken apart 747 jet in the crash site. Amazing!
