Our family stayed at the Best Western Moonlight Beach Hotel the week of August 20, 2006 and absolutely loved it! The beds were so comfortable and we even had a view of the ocean. The balcony and room are very large and nicely decorated. We had another reservation mid-week at Old Town Inn in San Diego (which is highly rated on Trip Advisor)
but once we saw our accomodations we called back the Best Western and got another room for our three remaining days.
The front desk was very helpful. A special thanks to Greg who found us another room and even gave us the same internet rate that we had. When we come back to Encinitas, we'll definately stay here. The complimentary breakfast is very nice and the town of Encinitas has that small southern california town vibe. Breakfast at Swami's Cafe and the Potato Shack are a must do. The Self-Realization Fellowship is absolutely beautiful. Moonlight Beach is such a great beach. The Coaster (commuter train) does take some getting use to.

My wife and I were here for the "Wags for Wishes" weekend in Del Mar, and we had two dogs with us. The room was big and spacious, and the bed was extremely comfortable (the dogs loved the bed.) The balcony was a nice size too, and all the rooms have a view to the left of the ocean and we were able to see a remarkable sunset. The staff was quite curteous and helpful. The free breakfast was a plus too. This made our trip well worth it and we would stay here again for the next event!

Both front desk workers were so unprofessional and rude we are making a point to write to the better business bureau to make a formal complaint,
IT was a holiday weekend and no supervisor was on the premises.Also, BEWARE There are no security cameras in the parking areas and the employees obviously have not been trained in customer care..
The GM of this property, JIM BOLT was not on the premise nor reachable by phone.. and we are still awaiting a call from him regarding this incedent..48 hours after the fact...

Our friends recommended this hotel although they had never actually stayed there. The room was very old - very dirty. Bathrooms were
moldy and to top it off - the toliet overflowed around midnight so we had no toliet facility until the morning when we had to hike down to the lobby toliet. When we complained to the lady at the desk she said there was nothing they could do - nor could they compensate us in any amount for the room. We paid $125 for the night yet we heard the people next to us paid only $59. I would personally avoid this hotel at any cost. It is such an old building with old fixtures, etc. - it needs to be demolished and rebuilt. The location is good but beware of the trains which pass in the night (the tracks are 2 blocks from the hotel) and the whistle blows several times as it passes through the city........not a restful night at all on top of the toliet problems.......
