My husband and I stayed at the Travelodge 6/8-6/11 for a wedding. We chose this hotel because it was right next to the Turnip Rose and the church. We drove from Arizona but wanted to be able to walk to the wedding/reception. The hotel is average and clean. It is what I expected from a Travelodge plus a little more. I don’t think this was a busy weekend. There were always plenty of parking spaces. The rooms were spacious. Nothing too fancy, it is a budget hotel. It was sometimes a little noisy because to shut the doors you had to almost slam them so we heard people coming and going sometimes. The noise wasn’t anything that would bother me, I just noticed it. It was within out budget, $77-84 per night. We had a small couch and table along with a king sized bed, a nice sized TV, chair/desk, countertop and sink area plenty big enough for me to get ready for the wedding and a separate toilet/shower/tub room. There was also a microwave and fridge. This was useful for leftovers and drinks. The kind bed was comfortable and we had no funny or smoky smells in our room. The staff was very nice. We had donuts each morning just to hold us over until we had lunch. Don’t count on the breakfast to fill you up. There were donuts and danishes along with coffee. The hotel isn’t a far drive from Huntington Beach. Parking is $10 at the beaches! I would stay at this hotel again because of the value. It isn’t luxury but we weren’t looking for much, just a place to sleep and kill a few hours here and there. My in-laws had to check in a few hours early, at 1pm, and they had rooms available.
Eating Out:
The Yard House: We ate here the first night and had a few drinks. It is within walking distance of the hotel. I had a HUGE turkey pot pie which was delicious and my husband had a sandwich which he said was awesome as well. The bill was $26 for the food only. My drink was $8.50, kind of pricey but strong!
Chimayo’s on Huntington Beach: We ate here for the rehearsal dinner. It was delicious! It was buffet style so I’m not sure how the entrees are when you order them by plate but it was great food and a wonderful atmosphere. We were on the patio. The sea breezes were chilly but they had heaters out and it was perfect. I would eat here again and would recommend the patio for the view of the sea and to people watch. Valet is $4 here I heard. We used the parking garage and paid $5 after they validated it.
Overall I was satisfied with this hotel. I rated it a "3" since it's a budget hotel but it was clean and comfortable. For it's own class of budget hotels I would recommend it and will stay there again if I need to be in that area.
