If you are searching Tripadvisor for a reliable, great value tour operator who can provide you with an unforgettable safari experience, stop looking. You've found him.
We've just returned from Kenya where we enjoyed a fabulous four day safari organised for us by Julius Tact of JT Safaris.
We arranged the safari before we left the UK after searching through recommendations on this site. Quite frankly, I found the reviews of Julius and his company almost too good to be true. How wrong I was.
Read his reviews and believe them. He really is that good.
After reading Tripadvisor I contacted Julius by email through his website and after a couple of emails we'd agreed our trip at a great price. A four day trip to Tsavo East, Tsavo West and Amboseli National Parks.
Sending the deposit to his bank account cost me a bit extra (Julius can't accept credit cards) but even with this is was a lot cheaper than the competition.
After that the whole thing ran very smoothly.
Julius met us at our hotel a couple of days before the trip for a final briefing, He constantly wants to know what you want to make the experience exceptional - and then he makes sure he provides it.
I went with my wife and two teenage kids and Julius provided us with a great driver - Manzir - and an eight seater 4wd for our exclusive use. We had lots of room and the opportunity to stop when we wanted to. We saw many similar vehicles loaded to the brim with people - some of whom had to struggle to get an opportunity to photograph the animals.
We we absolutely amazed at the variety of wildlife we saw on this trip. It far exceeded our expectations and we managed to get some wonderful photographs. I can't remember all they types of wonderful birds we saw but here's just of some of the animals we saw: waterbuffalo, elephants, giraffe, rhino, leopard, dik dik, impala, antelope, cheetah, gazelle, baboons, zebra, ostrich, jackal, crocodile, hippos, lavu. hyenas, wildesbeast and ELEVEN lions! It was a trip of a lifetime!
The first night we stayed at the fabulous Ngulia Lodge where a leopard comes to feed each evening at a floodlit wooden frame just outside of the restaurant - just a few meters away from where the elephants come to drink at the floodlit waterhole!
The second night we stayed at a new camp near to Kibo Camp and the Kimana Gate to the Amboseli national park. But this was not camping in the traditional sense, this was camping in luxury - good beds, great showers, hair-dryers, tea making kettle, and even a safe! Cloud meant we missed the view of Killimanjaro but the memory of the Masai nightwatchman dressed in his warrior regalia (complete with spear, machete, and wooden club) escorting us back to our tents from the camp fire certainly made up for it.
Our last night was at the Voi Lodge and this was our families favourite. It had the atmosphere of a bygone time (very much the feel of an Alpine mountain hotel) and a spectacular panoramic view over the park. It was magical.
Both Manzir, our driver, and Julius could not do enough to make our trip special. We arrived back at our fabulous Kole Kole hotel in Diani early evening, just in time for dinner. An unforgettable trip.
Trust them to show you their country and you will have memories that will last for the rest of your life.
Thank you Julius!
