“Julius Safaris - Simply the best!!”

Julius Safaris Day Trips

Aug 17, 2008

If you are searching Tripadvisor for a reliable, great value tour operator who can provide you with an unforgettable safari experience, stop looking. You've found him.

We've just returned from Kenya where we enjoyed a fabulous four day safari organised for us by Julius Tact of JT Safaris.

We arranged the safari before we left the UK after searching through recommendations on this site. Quite frankly, I found the reviews of Julius and his company almost too good to be true. How wrong I was.

Read his reviews and believe them. He really is that good.

After reading Tripadvisor I contacted Julius by email through his website and after a couple of emails we'd agreed our trip at a great price. A four day trip to Tsavo East, Tsavo West and Amboseli National Parks.

Sending the deposit to his bank account cost me a bit extra (Julius can't accept credit cards) but even with this is was a lot cheaper than the competition.

After that the whole thing ran very smoothly.

Julius met us at our hotel a couple of days before the trip for a final briefing, He constantly wants to know what you want to make the experience exceptional - and then he makes sure he provides it.

I went with my wife and two teenage kids and Julius provided us with a great driver - Manzir - and an eight seater 4wd for our exclusive use. We had lots of room and the opportunity to stop when we wanted to. We saw many similar vehicles loaded to the brim with people - some of whom had to struggle to get an opportunity to photograph the animals.

We we absolutely amazed at the variety of wildlife we saw on this trip. It far exceeded our expectations and we managed to get some wonderful photographs. I can't remember all they types of wonderful birds we saw but here's just of some of the animals we saw: waterbuffalo, elephants, giraffe, rhino, leopard, dik dik, impala, antelope, cheetah, gazelle, baboons, zebra, ostrich, jackal, crocodile, hippos, lavu. hyenas, wildesbeast and ELEVEN lions! It was a trip of a lifetime!

The first night we stayed at the fabulous Ngulia Lodge where a leopard comes to feed each evening at a floodlit wooden frame just outside of the restaurant - just a few meters away from where the elephants come to drink at the floodlit waterhole!

The second night we stayed at a new camp near to Kibo Camp and the Kimana Gate to the Amboseli national park. But this was not camping in the traditional sense, this was camping in luxury - good beds, great showers, hair-dryers, tea making kettle, and even a safe! Cloud meant we missed the view of Killimanjaro but the memory of the Masai nightwatchman dressed in his warrior regalia (complete with spear, machete, and wooden club) escorting us back to our tents from the camp fire certainly made up for it.

Our last night was at the Voi Lodge and this was our families favourite. It had the atmosphere of a bygone time (very much the feel of an Alpine mountain hotel) and a spectacular panoramic view over the park. It was magical.

Both Manzir, our driver, and Julius could not do enough to make our trip special. We arrived back at our fabulous Kole Kole hotel in Diani early evening, just in time for dinner. An unforgettable trip.

Trust them to show you their country and you will have memories that will last for the rest of your life.

Thank you Julius!

Julius Safaris Day Trips

Had fantastic safari with JT Safaris in July. We arranged to be picked up from Mombassa airport and taken to our hotel for the night (Pinewood Village - which was also very good). We met Julius and our driver Lucky who looked after us very well for the next 5 days in which we were taken to Tsavo West, Amboseli and Tsavo East. We managed to see more animals than we ever imagined. The lodges and camps were well situated and we just had a great time - so thanks to Julius and Lucky. I'm sure we will be back.

“A good, honest and reliable operator”

We booked a safari to Masai Mara, staying at Kichwa Tembo, from the UK. This was based on positive reviews on TripAdvisor. Even so, sending £300 deposit to somebody you don't know leaves you feeling slightly nervous. Anyway, we had no reason to be. Communication via email with Julius was good, he met us at the hotel at Diani Reef beforehand for a briefing. We were collected for the trip to the airport in his people carrier. The safari was fantastic, one of the ten things to do before you are sent to the old people's home. On the return I didn't have enough cash to pay the balance (I didn't want to pay a credit card supplement) No problems. Julius met me a few days later and took me to the various cash points around Diani/Ukunda. In a country where many people are trying to extract as much money as possible from you, Julius is a genuine and honest guy.

Having booked two weeks in Mombassa the next step was to find a great safari. As a regular user of trip advisor I turned to it first and one name kept coming up as a meticulous organiser with great prices.... I was sold.... on Julius. I did spend hours e-mailing other companie and shopping around but Julius, price was always the best. Having decided on Fig Tree camp for a good price, he then offered me the much more luxurious Kichwa Tembo at the same price!! I cheerfully accepted. Next I tried to transfer money for the flights etc but my bank were playing silly devils and in the end I phoned and asked could I pay him when I got there... no problem, he went ahead and booked every thing!
When we arrived he came to our hotel twice to make sure everything was as we wanted.
Like others, with no ticket in hand I was slightly nervous about the 6am pick up , but everything went like clockwork. A lovely transfer to the airport and then Kitchwa tembo.....the lap of luxury.Wake up call with coffeeand biscuits, monkeys playing in the trees, warthogs grazing in the grounds, giraffe, wildebeest and zebras on the plain in front and then the masai mara....
On our return a similiar smooth transfer where we were greeted by Julius with gifts as a memento and a free half day tour of mombasa thrown in (£90 if we had gone with the hotel reps!!) and again Julius came to our hotel to ask if the trip could have been improved in anay way. The answer was no.....superb from start to finish!! Many thanks Julius for such a wonderful experience.

Found Julius at JT Safaris on this site before we travelled to Kenya and saw he was Number 1, now I know why!
As 'first timers' in Kenya we had no clue about how to go about booking our safari. Was it safer to pay a lot more and go with our tour operator or should we put our money to better use with a local safari operator? We choose the second option and I am so glad we did! Julius e-mailed me back with a personal and friendly e-mail after my initial request; with a price we couldn’t turn down but please give him time to respond, as there are many power cuts out there. He kept in touch till the day we went and provided us with the safari of a lifetime.

We chose to go to Tsavo East and West and we were not disappointed. We saw so many of the animals we thought we had no chance of seeing as well as 3 leopards! Our driver was spot on with his knowledge and we thoroughly enjoyed his company as well as his 'carrot vision eyes' as he called them. The lodges we stayed in had views that we couldn’t believe and at Nguila he had pre-booked the best table in the restaurant so we could dine personally with the nightly guest of honour!

The van we had was super and we felt like royalty as it was just the 2 of us and saw vans (from big companies) with up to 10 people squashed in. Julius was there in the morning to wish us well (5am) and there as we returned to ensure everything had been ok. He then took my husband to golf after arranging the day especially for free and we went on another trip to Shimba Hills, which was just as well organised (he didn't even accept any money until he was sure we had enjoyed ourselves)
Julius was personal, friendly and ensured everything about our holiday was spot on.
Please do not waste money or time searching for others, Julius is No 1 and you will not be disappointed in him or his service.
