I had surgery on my foot and found myself in a cast with limited mobility. I needed to stay in a hotel before heading back home. This hotel advertised ADA accessible rooms. Oh yes, the doorways were wide enough but they were on an angle with furniture in the way of being able to get through. My wheelchair couldn't bend to conform.
In the bathroom was a standard old-fashioned towel rack that was to be used to help me to stabilize - - - it came right off of the wall the first time I grabbed onto it. The standard tub had rails but they weren't installed on an angle that would be helpful for anything other than hanging your washcloth on. The toilet was lower than the average household toilet making getting on and off challenging.
The furnishings were not helpful either. The table in the room was on a single/middle base so if I had had to lean on it it would have tipped over. It was between the wall and the bed so I couldn't sit at it anyway. The beds were higher than a traditional bed making getting on and off difficult and the covers hung on the floor so that the wheelchair got caught on them.
.
The mini frig was on the floor so I couldn't get stuff in or out of it.
The management didn't care much about my problems. They offered me a "discount" but what I needed was for the room to meet ADA standards in the first place.
