“Great for families!”

Our family of 4 stayed here from June 29 through July 1, 2007. Here is what I wrote in my travel journal:

Suites include 2 K BR's, 2 baths, joint LR, galley kitchen with full sized fridge, microwave, stove, oven, coffee maker, dining table and chairs. (There are no ice machines because each suite has its own fridge with ice-maker. Plan to stop for bags of ice if you have a cooler to fill for the day's adventures.) Nice pool; clean and quiet. Misters around tables on outside courtyard with grill. Housekeeping was so-so but the rooms were updated and beds were comfortable. Business amenities included 4 computers and a printer, free of charge. (This was a huge hit with my kids who stayed in contact with their friends back home by email.) Breakfast offerings included cold cerals, juices, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, fruit, scrambled eggs, sausage/ham/bacon, variety of breads for toasting. Iced tea was available in the afternoons along with coffee. Plenty of free parking on site. Hotel is within one block of trolley to shopping districts. This is a two-story facility with no elevators.

As a side note, the front desk staff was about as helpful as any I've ever encountered. They knew the area well and could help with directions, etc. Very responsive to requests.

This was the first leg of a long vacation for us so I'd sent a package to myself in care of the hotel (supplies for the family that I didn't wish to lug through the airports) a week before we were due to arrive. The package was kept safe until we got there and was delivered to our room within 20 minutes of our arrival.

I would return in a heartbeat. You can't beat the value.

My husband and I and other family stayed here from Aug 1-3 & Aug 5-7. We ENJOYED every minute of it, from the layout of the suites, the space, the T.V's in each room, nice bathroom, closet, bed was nice and comfy, we slept like bears! We especially enjoyed the fact that we got a GREAT rate via expedia.com! The check in/ checkout process was easy and smooth because our room was already prepaid via expedia.com.

The location is great, although we're not exactly rich so we couldn't afford to shop at the exquisite shops they had in the surrounding area. We ended up going to Arizona Mills Outlet in Phoenix.

We enjoyed the FREE breakfast EACH morning, which consisted of eggs, bacon, toast, bagels, potatoes, sausage, fruit mix, cereal, orange & apple juice, and coffee 24/7.

We also enjoyed the FREE HAPPY hour they had about 4 nights a week starting at 5PM.. I think. They would have wine, beer, sangria, juice, chips&dip, chili, chicken wings, celery/broccoli & ranch dip and more. So you can say depending on what they had, you could get full and not spend a dime for dinner!

We also enjoyed the FREE internet usage. A lot of hotels charge to use their computers or their wireless network. They had a business center with 3 computers and a printer.

SO I would HIGHLY recommend Summerfield Suites in Scottsdale AZ.! If we ever go back to Scottsdale, thats where we'll be staying.

“Great Scottsdale Location”

Hyatt Summerfield Suites Scottsdale/Old Town

We are native Arizonans who hace stayed in Summerfield Suites in different locations under different company headings (Wyndham and Hyatt), I have seen little difference in the service under either company except for the travelor programs offered.

We usually choose the hotel for the space and convienance it affords our family of four. We opt for a two bedroom suite and we are able to watch tv in the living room until both the children are asleep in different bedrooms. The kitchen is a nice feature even if it is just for storing and heating leftovers. I often find mini refridgerators do not offer us enough space and this one is the size found in many apartments- more than adequate for vacation stays. There will be a television in each bedroom and a tv and vcr or dvd player in the living room. The last three times I stayed at this property there was only a vcr in the living room. This is difficult because they do not rent tapes and neither does Blockbuster any more. The past stay (Aug1-6 2007) included two separate suites and vcr's were in both suites. The hotel told my husband that most rooms did have a dvd payer in them. Like I said, we have stayed in four different suites in this hotel and only had vcrs. (Maybe we are just lucky) You may wish to call ahead if this is a concern.
The breakfast is adequate at best and the evening social hour amounts to chips, dip and maybe veggies with wine, beer and soda to drink. It's not a meal but, I have never seen them run out of anything. There is always someone restocking.

I have stayed in this location three times for extended stays. There is Scottsdale Fashion Square for mall shopping with most chain stores as well as Nordstrom, Dillards, Macy's and Neiman Marcus within a mile. There are two movie theaters and many restaurants within a five mile radius. This is not one of the fancier resort hotels however, I think this will be reflected in the price.

I have found housekeeping to be lacking. This past time it appeared our room was made up by a small child. Everything was done- just not very well. I did not think the rooms felt dirty, though. I have always found the pool area nice and the rooms have been quiet no matter room placement.
Summerfield suites is like renting an apartment with passable maid service for a few days while on vacation. It will appeal mostly to people who enjoy a little extra space when traveling with their family.

“Not so bad!”

After reading some of the reviews on here I was a little worried about staying here. But we stayed in the 2 bedroom suite and it was great. It has a fully loaded kitchen (plates, silverware, etc) and it seemed clean- don't get me wrong, it's not a 4 star hotel but we made do. The beds and the room was cleaned everyday. The breakfast there was okay, I wouldn't eat the eggs or sausage (didn't look to appetizing) but they had cereal, fruit, coffee, juices, bagels, toast..etc. The pool was also kept cleaned. So I would say that our stay there was good, didn't have any problems.

The Summerfield Suites in Scottsdale, AZ was a beautiful hotel. It is family friendly and very spacious. The 2 bedroom suites were very nice and at a super price!!! The staff was friendly and helpful. The hot breakfast buffet was great for a free, hotel meal. I would highly recommend it if you are visiting Phoenix. It is just minutes from the airport and all types of restaurants and shopping.
