We were set to stay at this hotel from Nov 28-30, after getting the hotel through priceline with a $62 bid for a 4 star hotel. After reading reviews on this site and a few others we knew not to expect too much but figured we'd have a nice stay since we're not the pickiest travellers. We didn't have a problem with the older looking/feeling room but thought the lobby and the grounds were nice.
However, our experience went immediately south when I went into the bathroom and saw some type of reddish liquid (blood? - I didn't get close enough to inspect) and MUSHROOMS growing in the corner of the bathroom. I have never heard of such a thing and I still feel sick to my stomach even thinking about it.
I can hardly imagine the amount of neglect and indifference that an establishment must have in order to have mushrooms growing in a bathroom. It was a second floor room (room 747, to be exact. if given this room, immediately ask for another) which made both my wife and I even more confused as to how this was even possible.
After taking about 7 pictures to document this rare phenomenon we headed for the front desk and told them about our ordeal. They didn't seem too concerned and just sent us to another room. As soon as we got to the next room the shock of the experience had waned and we could hardly imagine touching ANYTHING in this room, knowing the lack of concern they appeared to have in their housekeeping.
At this point we called Priceline to try and get the room cancelled and our money refunded and they weren't able to do anything until we went back to the front desk and found the manager and actually showed him the pictures we had taken. At that point he had no problem cancelling our reservation and giving the green light to priceline to refund our money.
I sincerely hope this is an exception and not the norm when it comes to this hotel but we'll never return in order to find out.
