Second visit to this resort. Visiting family for Thanksgiving both trips. The hotel accommodations were average. The bed was rock hard with cheap linens. The Holiday Inn has nicer linens than the ones found in these rooms. The room itself was spacious and looked as if some updating had happened. (New counter tops and bathtub looked newly tiled) The tub was nothing but a standard tub, kind of disappointing for a resort.

The mini bar and snacks in the room were nice, but PRICEY. No microwave was another disappointment- room safe, mini fridge, coffee maker, but no microwave?

The TVs in the room were standard and small. A family member did have a flat screen in their room that provided a much larger and clearer picture. Need to provide these in all rooms.

The fitness center was suppose to be a state of the art facility, but it was in fact two Racquetball courts turned into a cardio/weight room. There was TVs only in one of the cardio rooms and there were no audio plugins to listen to the TV while working out. The weight machines were older, but were well taken care of. There was little room for free weight work and abs. Desperate need of an update here!

We did not eat at the hotel's restaurant or use room service. The cost was prohibitive. There were plenty of restaurants on Scottsdale Blvd (the road the resort is located off) and these restaurants were moderately priced with plenty of variety to choose from.

For the most part this resort has maintained it's beautiful surroundings and the staff was always friendly and ready to help. The price can be steep for the accommodations, but it is Scottsdale, Arizona.

OK. I've now stayed here twice. First time alone on business, second time with kids. The stays were a year apart. Booked both times off Priceline for great rates. Here's the skinny:

The hotel is a series of resort-style, two-story units set amidst nicely-maintained grounds. It will never be a 4-star property. It simply lacks the physical plant. It is, however, a very decent 3-star property that has been dolled up.

The rooms are reasonably large. The beds and bedding are high-quality. The bathrooms have good water pressure and reliably hot water. High-
end toiletries are supplied. Each room has its own heater/AC unit, which can be rather noisy. There are bathrobes, and the towels are big and soft.

Beyond that, Buyer Beware. They try to gouge you for every last thing. If you are not a Priceline buyer, they hit you with a $15 per room daily "resort fee." What does that buy you? Not much. Mostly things you would assume would be included anyway -- parking, pool access, in-room coffee maker and a newspaper. Meantime, they want another $10 per day for internet access. Want a fridge in the room (included w/ a microwave and free internet at the Econolodge in Flagstaff)? Another $10 per day. Totally bogus. After I returned home, I found a BS charge for a minibar item we never touched (which they refunded when I protested).

As for meals, hold on to your hat! Breakfast for 2 adults and 2 kids would have cost upwards of $60 with tax and tip. I had breakfast here last year by myself on the company's dime. Decent spread, but not worth $20. The dinner restaurant is a tired, overpriced steak restaurant. For the money you would do much better to cross the street to the shopping center that houses a Roy's, a Ruth's Chris, and a nice brick-oven pizza joint.

All-in-all, I would gladly stay here again for the prices I paid, but only for the room. Priceline should know better than to try to sell this hotel as a 4-star hotel/resort.

We frequently book our hotel stays through Priceline or Hotwire. It is infuriating when you arrive to check in at some of the places and they charge you a "resort fee". You have no way of comparison shopping when they quote one rate for the room online and tack on surprise fees at the desk. I was very impressed when the nice clerk at The Scottsdale Plaza resort front desk informed us that the fee was waived for Priceline guests. That's a first! It shows respect for the guest and it demonstrates the integrity and honesty of the hotel's management practices. As for our stay we are happy to report that the grounds are beautiful and our room was above average. Not quite the 4-star level stated on Priceline, but certainly nice. I would be content to stay there again.

This "resort" is nothing but a Motel 6 with a fancy reception area and some new paint. All of the rooms open to the outside, which is not safe or deserves a 4 star rating. The rooms appear clean, but so do some Super 8's. I could nat imagine paying full price for this 2.5 star property.
