Stayed here for a conference that I was attending. I was a little unsure about it based on the reviews here. When we arrived, we were upgraded to a bi-level suite which was really nice. It had a fireplace, small patio, 2 bathrooms, and a bedroom on the 2nd floor. The only issue was that when I got upstairs to the bedroom, it was not a king but 2 doubles. I called the front desk and asked to switch to a room with a king. They were accomodating and sent a porter over to our room with the new room key. The A/C unit was loud and the water pressue in the shower was poor. The resort is nice however it is quite large and is definately not easy to navigate at night. The conference facilities were fine and the food they provided at the conference was great. No complaints there. There is a charge for internet which is quite surprising considering its a 'conference' facility and that is a major draw for the resort. There was also a 'porter' charge on our final bill for $8.00. I supose they charge you that so that the porter can show you to your room. However you really don't have a choice in that matter....they don't really offer any other way to find your room except to follow the porter. All in all, it was a great value for the group conference rate of $149/night. I probably would not stay there again on my own accord.

“Won't stay again”

Scottsdale Plaza Resort

Sep 3, 2008

This was my first visit to Arizona. My husband had previously stayed at this resort and had rave reviews. While the grounds and facility are beautiful we were disappointed that there was a charge for internet service. You wouldn't expect that at a luxury resort when you can get free internet at a best western. Also I expected above-average "everything" with it being a luxury resort . Also upon arriving home after a 3-night stay I realized that I was missing two pieces of jewelry so my recommendation is if you have ANYTHING of value you should LOCK IT IN THE SAFE, LEAVE NOTHING OUT. Again, you would not think of this at a LUXURY RESORT.

“4 Star? Maybe Out of 10!!”

Scottsdale Plaza Resort

1 of 5 stars
Frisco, TX
Sep 2, 2008

We are pretty easy to please. When we book a room through Priceline, we take the perceived value into consideration. This hotel has made us seriously reconsider Priceline in the future.

The Scottsdale Plaza Resort is supposedly a 4-star "resort"... NOT!!! Unless they mean 4 out of 10 stars!!

There was nothing "resort" about this place. As far as I'm concerned, lodging that has exterior corridors and rooms adjacent to a parking lot... is a MOTEL. We were put in a room at the far-end of building 4. It was very poorly lit at night. The double-lock was crooked and thus difficult to engage.

We thought we were in a time warp. The room was damp, musty, and looked like it hadn't been remodeled since the 70's. The carpet was as hideous and filthy as the bed spreads. The furniture was unattractive and worn out. The TV was a whopping 19" tube set. All the luxuries you'd expect from a 4-star resort.

The bathroom was dark and dated, and the toilet was a slow-flusher. The shower curtain was so dark that it was downright depressing. The toiletries were poor quality. Water pressure was OK.

The air conditioner was loud, not very cool, and ingeniously designed to blow up INTO the curtain. Who designed that?? It rattled and was short-circuiting, as the unit kicked on and off all night.

We were offended by the ridiculously overpriced refreshments. A 1.5 liter bottle of water was $8.00. They did offer complimentary use of an Ethernet cable, so we thought it meant complimentary Internet access. Wrong. It was literally, complimentary use of the cable only. Wow, thanks! And if you took it, you were charged $20.

Although we pre-paid for two nights at the Plaza, we checked out early the next morning and made a beeline for the nearest Sheraton. The front-desk staff didn't even bother to inquire why we were leaving early on a pre-paid stay. We just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. It was that bad.

We had already stayed at The Scottsdale Plaza on two previous visits to Arizona and again we were not disappointed! The staff were always willing to provide any information for our travel plans, the grounds are delightful and the Garden Court Restaurants' breakfast buffet provided the perfect start to the day.We hope to return in 2009.

“Immaculate Grounds....Fabulous Massage”

Scottsdale Plaza Resort

4 of 5 stars
Santa Cruz, California
Jun 18, 2008

We stayed here for the third year in a row with a High tech conference my fiancee attends. The Scottsdale Plaza is a little long in the tooth...compared with the newer, hipper resorts that have multiplied in Scottsdale over the past ten year. It does however, have some things going for it which include beautifully kept grounds and surroundings. The staff here is omnipresent..and tries to answer all your needs. Personally, I love it here!...lots of private garden areas...multiple pools and charming tiny bunnies darting about. This year I booked a "therapeutic" massage at the Salon and Day Spa. My massage therapist was Josette, and if you are booked at the resort I suggest you give their intimate facility a try. Josette was great...one of the best massages I've had at a resort property. She said she has lots of local regulars and it was easy to see (feel) why! In addition to the resort, they are situated only 15 minutes or so from Taleisin West, the school campus that was developed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Very much worth the drive...take a tour or two...it's fascinating!
