“Second stay, a bit disappointing”

Marriott Phoenix Airport

3 of 5 stars
Littleton, Massachusetts
Apr 13, 2008

Recently spent one night here prior to flying out from Sky Harbor Airport. We had stayed here two years ago for three nights and loved it. Unfortunately this experience wasn't as great. Not bad, but nothing exceptional. On the first stay the staff went out of their way to be friendly but this time not so. I'm wondering if it has a new manager. The physical facility is fine and the room was clean and comfortable but the great customer service experience from previously was missing. It was just average. We ate in the dining room anticipating a great meal but it was only average. In fact I couldn't eat my chicken as it was undercooked. The waiter did take it off the bill. It was convenient to the airport but not sure that I would stay here again.

“Ok hotel if you need to stay near the airport”

Marriott Phoenix Airport

Dec 15, 2007

Stayed two nights at this Marriott. The staff is friendly enough. The rooms are pleasant, quiet and clean with flatscreen tv, blonde wood furnishings... typical modern Marriott decor. The view is of the highway on one side and the neighborhood on the otherside (nothing spectacular).

You'll need a car if you stay here. There is nothing near here that you can walk to. I arranged with the front desk to take a "taxi" to Old Town Scottsdale for the day. They said it would cost $15-$20 one way. The "taxi" turned out to be "Continental Carriage" which is a town car service with a minimum charge of $32 not including tip.

About 10 minutes from this hotel is a good steakhouse named "The Stockyards." We had a great meal here - it's on the National Register of Historic Places and is on a site that once overlooked a feed yard of 40,000 head of cattle (you'd never know it now - it's on a busy road with office parks and urban stuff).

We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant and the food was fine but ordinary.

I ordered a glass of wine from the bar one night to take up to my room. It was obvious that this bar does not get a lot of traffic as the wine tasted like it had been sitting around awhile and was virtually undrinkable.

Overall, this is a very nice hotel for an airport hotel. I'd stay here again, but only if I needed to be near the airport.

“Nice Property, Convenient to Airport”

Marriott Phoenix Airport

3 of 5 stars
Arlington, Virginia
Nov 20, 2007

Stayed one night in November 2007 during a business trip to Phoenix. The Marriott is convenient to PHX airport without being noisy and is an attractive property. The rooms are Marriotteque, which I consider a plus when traveling on business. My elite membership gave me access to the Executive Lounge, which was also very nice. My only complaint is that my room service breakfast was late, and as a result I barely had time to inhale my food before leaving for the airport. There are likely to be cheaper alternatives near Sky Harbor Airport, but overall I was pleased with the Marriott.

“Great service, tired facilities”

Marriott Phoenix Airport

Oct 7, 2007

I stay here routinely for business in PHX. The staff is great, both at the front desk and the concierge lounge, but the property is in DIRE need of investment. Fitness center is barely the size of a single room on the ground floor, the "business center" is two pay-per use computers, and the rooms are getting run-down. I stay here because we have a great rate for our office staff, but I'm at the point of looking at other properties just for comfort, even if sacrificing some convenience and confronting more traffic due to the location.

“Nothing to complain about”

Marriott Phoenix Airport

3 of 5 stars
N. California
Aug 24, 2007

Centralized for those who want to be near the airport to catch an early flight. Lobby area, nicely presented. Room - big enough to feel comfortable with access to internet for $9.95, bed is quite comfortable for a good night sleep and walls thick enough not to hear your next door neighbor. Bathrooms are big enough with assortment of shampoo, conditioner, and lotions courtesy of Bath and Body - Hotel provides mouthwash as well. Staff is quite friendly and always makes a point to say hello/goodbye each time your in the lobby area. Complimentary coffee in-room. Fits the needs for travelers who are visiting the Phoenix area for business or pleasure.
