Stayed two nights at this Marriott. The staff is friendly enough. The rooms are pleasant, quiet and clean with flatscreen tv, blonde wood furnishings... typical modern Marriott decor. The view is of the highway on one side and the neighborhood on the otherside (nothing spectacular).
You'll need a car if you stay here. There is nothing near here that you can walk to. I arranged with the front desk to take a "taxi" to Old Town Scottsdale for the day. They said it would cost $15-$20 one way. The "taxi" turned out to be "Continental Carriage" which is a town car service with a minimum charge of $32 not including tip.
About 10 minutes from this hotel is a good steakhouse named "The Stockyards." We had a great meal here - it's on the National Register of Historic Places and is on a site that once overlooked a feed yard of 40,000 head of cattle (you'd never know it now - it's on a busy road with office parks and urban stuff).
We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant and the food was fine but ordinary.
I ordered a glass of wine from the bar one night to take up to my room. It was obvious that this bar does not get a lot of traffic as the wine tasted like it had been sitting around awhile and was virtually undrinkable.
Overall, this is a very nice hotel for an airport hotel. I'd stay here again, but only if I needed to be near the airport.
