Ayres de Recoleta has spacious and comfortable rooms in a convenient location adjacent to the Recoleta Cemetery and close to shopping, restaurants and cinema.
After researching the many hotels of Buenos Aires, our group decided on Ayres de Recoleta based on value and location. We found the rooms spacious enough for all our stuff, which accumulates while traveling over a three week period. The rates were also attractive and within our budget. We paid USD110/night (low season-August)
FIRST IMPRESSION: Clean, comteporary design of lobby, friendly staff greeted us and check-in of 7 rooms went relatively smoothly.
ROOMS: Rooms are 4 per floor. 2 facing the street and two overlooking the (small) pool. The volume of the room is good with a basic kitchen, dining area, sufficient storage, modern bathroom and King or Twin beds. There is a work area for your lap top at the window which spans the width of the room affording lots of light if needed.
DECOR: Although it may be considered contemporary by some because of flooring and minimalist features, it also reminded me of my dormitory at a US college in the 80's. BUT!! For the price and size of room it was okay.
THE STAFF: At first, I was challenenged with one of them as I worked out some problems, but overall, they were helpful and friendly and willing to make reservations for restaurants, shows and tours.
THE BREAKFAST: Personally, I used this for only the first morning of 7 mornings. The restaurant is located a block and a half away and is very busy. The staff are hurried and rude and seem like they do not like to see customers with hotel vouchers. The breakfast is a continental breakfast and we were charged for a coffee when they said we should have told them upfront about the voucher. Same coffee. We paid Ar.20.00 for two coffees as I never got back any change. I reported this to the hotel and was compensated. I recommend that the hotel change from this restaurant. La Noble can easily deliver breakfast to the hotel and have it in-house instead. We ate at La Noble around the corner every morning thereafter and Sophia was a dream.
THE LOCATION: Is convenient. oh hum. Very tourist oriented area. Lots of restaurants and shopping and a cineplex and the cemetery right next door but nothing of any great value. We could have walked to Bullrich Mall and high-end shops along the way, but mostly we took cabs everyday to Palermo Soho where most of the things we liked were. Trendy boutiques, fab restaurants and cafes. A lovely village and in no time you will have more shopping bags than you can carry. Our favourite restaurants were CASA CRUZ, SUCRE and BO-BO Restaurant. FANTASTIC!!
The sum up: Ayres de Recoleta was good value and comfortable with friendly staff.
