The hotel accomodations were acceptable. They offered connecting rooms when we reserved, upon arrival they came up with some excuse about that not being available at all. When we asked to speak to the manager, he came down with a very bad attitude and very aggressive, even offering to personally escort us to another hotel down the street. After a long red eye flight obviously we were in no mood for discussions. However, the sales manager continued to berate us and treating us like we were making him loose money and he was doing us a favor by even speaking to us. We booked two rooms for 6 nights, that is pretty good business for many small hotels, there is no reason to act in a non professional manner, alledging he has over 13 years of experience.
Would reccommend all reservations and requests for special accomodations be fully explicit in writing, since they argued that our reservation did not confirm connecting rooms as per our request.
One of the room´s heaters broke down on the 4th night and they were not able to repair it or even offer another room. At least they recognized it would have been unacceptable to charge for that night.
We must mention the hotel employees were quite gracious and helpfull and made the rest of our stay quite enjoyable.
I am a frecuent Buenos Aires´s visitor, and this was mi first time in Ayres de Recoleta Hotel. First of all, great location. For the ones that know Buenos Aires, is in front of the Recoleta Cemetery, in the heart of Recoleta. For those that doesn´t know Buenos Aires, the neighbourghood is the most exclusive, full of pubs, great restaurants, and trendy shops.
The Hotel is excellent. The rooms are modernly equiped and very comfortable, rather for work or only to rest. Also, you can cook in it, but you are not going to need it because Buenos Aires has a lot of good restaurants for a cheap price. The staff is warm, always smiling, and very professional, always ready to solve any kind of problem or give an advice.
I strongly recommend Ayres de Recoleta, I will stay again in my next trip.
We stayed there 3/29-4/1.This was for the second part of our stay in Buenos Aires, having stayed at Art hotel the first part.
This location was superb - a half block from the cemetery and a half block from "recoleta village" which has a movie theatre, restaurants etc, a small mall of sorts. The street it is on has very little traffic.
The lobby is very comfortable, the room we had was a studio with a kitchen area and table and plenty of drawers, closet etc. We really didn't use the kitchen for cooking but it was handy and certainly a nice option to have the space and convenience. They had a lot of nice small touches around. When you check in there are 2 bottles of cold water in the fridge for you for example. It is the little things that go pretty far in my book.
The staff was extemely nice.
I had read negatives about the breakfast at a cafe down the street, and while it might not have been the most varied, it was totally fine. It was a nice cafe, with plenty of people having meals there. The hotel gives you a voucher each morning and breakfast is from (I think) 7-10 am. They have fruit salad, medialuna, fresh orange juice, yogurt, coffee, which was pretty much all I want as an option.
The suggestions the staff offered for low key restaurants and directions were very appropriate. They were happy to assist in any way, always offering to make calls on our behalf. Maybe this is how most places are but we were super pleased.
I would be delighted to stay again.
We picked this hotel because of the reviews on Tripadvisor and were pleasantly surprised.
The hotel location is fantastic. Recoleta is packed with beautiful buildings and great restaurants. All major tourist attractions are nearby too. We spent the entire day walking around Recoleta. Free Buenos Aires guide in the room is fantstic for planning your tailor made tours and the text serves as a personal guide. One thing, however, to bear in mind, the hotel is literally outside the Recoleta cemetary. It is important BA landmark, but if you are freaked out by cemetaries, you might have disturbed sleep here.
The hotel is not your conventional chain hotel (although we understand they are becoming a chain now in BA, with a sister hotel in Palermo). This is an aparthotel, with rooms more like suites, which are very well equipped. Everything is above 3* and even though the venue doesn't have any restaurant facilities, they do give you vouchers for a free breakfast at a nearby cafe.
I guess the best part of the stay at Ayres is the staff. Ask their recommendations on everything. It was our first time in BA and they certainly made it fantastic stay. BA is probably the most cultured city in Latin America, but don't miss the shopping. The hotel organises shopping tours around Christian Dior, Lacoste, Cacharel and leather outlets, where you can pick up fantastic bargains. You will be picked up by your personal shopper, who in his car will take you everywhere. It's a free service, but be generous with the tip.
Thank you to everybody at Ayres. We are looking forward to be back in Buenos Aires and trying out your sister hotel in Palermo!
