The Buenos Aires Hilton is nothing like, and is far superior to, the typical Hilton located in the U.S. If you can afford this hotel (US $270 + tax, for one person for one night) it is hard to conceive why you would stay anywhere else in Buenos Aires (unless you need classic fine furnishings and an elite address, in which case you could stay at the Alvear for three times the price). The location is perfect: a modern, quiet and safe neighborhood with excellent restaurants, that is an easy walk from the center of the city and two subway lines. There is a swimming pool on the roof (next to a well equipped gym) with an unsurpassed view of the city skyline. Service is outstanding. The rooms are large and the climate controls are effective and noiseless. I prefer beds on the softer side, and found this one a bit hard, but still acceptable. The Hilton Buenos Aires has a reputation as a hotel for business people, and many of the guests relaxing in the spectacular atrium/lobby were wearing suits, but I was there strictly for tourism, never felt the slightest bit uncomfortable or out of place, and, if anything, felt like the people wearing business attire elevated the decor. During my five day stay, there were two or three small problems, but each one was taken care of instantaneously and completely. The only real downside is that the hotel food is too expensive, and the coffee is disgracefully bad, but there are excellent alternative dining options within easy walking distance.
