“European elegance in Buenos Aires”

Unique Hotel Park Plaza Buenos Aires

We were upgraded to this lovely hotel due to a mix-up with our reservation at another hotel.

This small (50+ room) hotel has a lovely European flair. Our room was smallish by North American standards, but had a comfortable king-size bed, a lovely mini-bar, and a nicely-finished, but somewhat cramped, bathroom. They also had a small twin bed for our seven-year old daughter. The room would have been a lot roomier without the extra bed. There is free internet/wi-fi in the main lobby, so we didn't check out the internet access in the room.

Best of all, the hotel was removed from the noisy Buenos Aires traffic that we had heard in the other hotels and seemed quite quiet overall. We had our best night of sleep in Buenos Aires in this hotel. The only thing that disturbed me were the birds chirping early in the am.

The Breakfast buffet was lovely, although the breakfast nook can get crowded. Jorge/George and Pablo, the bell captains, were both excellent.

The staff spoke excellent English. One negative comment, there are no irons/ironing boards either in the rooms or available on request. If you want something ironed, you have to leave your items for ironing. According to the front desk, a former guest apparently burned down his room and since then, irons are not permitted.

I've read some of the other comments -- yes, the elevators are broom closet sized and slow. It all seems to add to the charm of the hotel. It reminds me of the hotels my parents stayed in when I was 6 years old.

If you want North American comfort -- you probably should stay at the Sheraton at Plaza San Martin -- at much higher prices.

Like Dr. Frankstein, they are trying to create life from dead body parts. The new appeal is way bias to the kitsch side, the "greek" "afresco" made by a local "artist" at the looby, the fake black marble columns and the all black furniture will let you know this as soon as you arrive. Also, unless you have a rubber backbone and a giraffe neck DO NOT sleep in this Hotel, the mattresses were not yet resuscitated by the dear Doctor and the 3 or 4 remaining functional springs will make you miserable all night. Mine had such a strong tilt do the right that at 3AM i switched it by the floor. As a premium, Dr Frank had a work in progress in the room next door and hammered into my dreams at 8AM sharp. Shower is strong and hot I must say. Staff is very, very, very helpful but I am sure there are better choices and better prices than this one.

“Charming Hotel”

Unique Hotel Park Plaza Buenos Aires

It was our first time in Buenos Aires and we had a great eight days stay at the Kempinski Park Plaza (group of 10). Exceptionally well located in Recoleta neighborhood, whithin walking distance of all shopping and interest areas. The staff at the hotel is extremely friendly, helpful, polite and all spoke excellent english. I've read about the small elevators are true but not an inconvenience. if you have been in Paris their elevators is smaller than the one in Kempinski hotel! The entire place has a very european feel and we were pleased from the minute we walked in the door and saw all the comfortable yet stilysh antique in the lobby ... yet it was simple unpretentious and located in one of the city's most beautiful neighborhoods. A great place to stay for lots of reasons.

“Small boutique hotel with lots to offer!”

Unique Hotel Park Plaza Buenos Aires

May 19, 2008

I had seen all the negative reviews of this hotel - but decided to give it a try anyways. Spent 10 days here and found that it was like a home-away-from-home for me.

The property is small - a true boutique hotel, but with lots to offer! The rooms are newer and spacious by most city hotel standards. There was a small restaurant and bar in the lobby with free breakfast every morning, as well as a computer for free use!

The staff was excellent! Everyone knew my name by the first day! I checked in at 9am and they worked hard to get me my room early - even though I had arrived 6 hours prior to check in time! Twice-daily maid service helped to keep the room fresh and clean.

The guys at the front desk arranged many tours of the city for me - and worked hard to make sure that every aspect of my stay was perfect. I would return to this hotel just because the staff was so nice and helpful - like a bunch of friends who are all trying to help you out. Mostly everyone spoke English - and to those people who wrote reviews about not all the staff knowing English, i say "LEARN SPANISH YOU AMERICANS!"

The hotel is located on a safe street - in a quiet part of the city but close to several great restaurants and a very posh shopping mall. The staff even suggested a few convenince store around the corner to get sodas and snacks since they were cheaper than the minibar in the room. There are 2 major banks on the next block over - very convenient for changing money and using the ATMs.

Overall a stay that exceeded my expectations and then some. Great staff, great location, great property and would recommend to anyone visiting Buenos Aires!

“excellent service”

My husband and I booked this hotel for our stay in Buenos Aires. After reading all the reviews I was very nervous. There were more negative comments than positive ones but after just coming back from a week long stay at this hotel I have nothing but good things to say. It is a small boutique hotel and that was not a surprise (as it does say so in the description) which was neat. Rooms were clean and comfortable. There was no problem with the check-in process. There are 2 elevators with maual doors but presented no problems. Breakfast was fine. Just like any other breakfast you can have at any outside cafe. Concierge and staff service was remarkable! Anything we needed at whatever time there was always someone there to help us! They recommended places to visit and would arrange any transportation needed. The hotel is located in Recoleta area on a very quiet street which was also a plus! I would definitely recommend this hotel!!!!
