The hotel is located outside of the fort, but a mere 15 minutes away form the fort( on foot). The house is relatively new and lovingly decorated with local textiles in beautifully done color schemes. The rooms are clean and the showers are working as is the AC. As we arrived around 5 am, we were very happy to be shown into our room and allowed to catch up on our sleep. Meals are served on the rooftop terrace with a gentle breeze and a great view of the fort with the songs of school children drifting by from a nearby school. Breakfast did include fresh fruit and lunch or dinner were cooked fresh and were tasty.
The owners Fifu and Jitendra were always around and very helpful in all their advise. They introduced us to a jewelry maker, who has been awarded for his work by the Smithonian Institute as well as to a collector of fabulous local antique textiles.
Local camel safaris into the desert can be arranged through local travel agencies as well as through the hotel. We chose the latter after some comparative price shopping and were very pleased. Jitendra accompanied us and cooked a fabulous meal under the stars for us, a party of 2.
In summary, I would highly recommend this hotel in the mid price range to any of my friends for its location, charme and great and very thoughtful service.
