A young couple from banglore suggested me to try this beautiful place which was highly recomnded by their travel agent. As I had not booked a place and I was still in the train minutes away from Jaiselmer I decided to tag along with them and shared thr jeep sent by the hotel for pick up. It was a plrsaent surprise, the place was beautiful clean and the whole staff wa very friendly.Food was great service was fantastic, I would strongly recommend this place for allthe foreign travellers as the place is already a hit wirh locals. I wish the owners a continued success.Visiting from Canada it was a geret exprience.

“Loved the hotel Fifu”

The hotel is located outside of the fort, but a mere 15 minutes away form the fort( on foot). The house is relatively new and lovingly decorated with local textiles in beautifully done color schemes. The rooms are clean and the showers are working as is the AC. As we arrived around 5 am, we were very happy to be shown into our room and allowed to catch up on our sleep. Meals are served on the rooftop terrace with a gentle breeze and a great view of the fort with the songs of school children drifting by from a nearby school. Breakfast did include fresh fruit and lunch or dinner were cooked fresh and were tasty.
The owners Fifu and Jitendra were always around and very helpful in all their advise. They introduced us to a jewelry maker, who has been awarded for his work by the Smithonian Institute as well as to a collector of fabulous local antique textiles.
Local camel safaris into the desert can be arranged through local travel agencies as well as through the hotel. We chose the latter after some comparative price shopping and were very pleased. Jitendra accompanied us and cooked a fabulous meal under the stars for us, a party of 2.
In summary, I would highly recommend this hotel in the mid price range to any of my friends for its location, charme and great and very thoughtful service.

“a fab place to stay”

Fifu Guest House

Apr 8, 2008

This is a great place to stay. It's a little walk into the main town/fort area but really no more than 10 mins and you could always get a rickshaw. We liked the fact we were staying away from the hustle and bustle and could go into it when we felt like it. Britta was execeptionally helpful/friendly when we had troubles booking trains and also during our stay. Rooms are really nicely done, a bit on the cold side when we were there in Dec, particularly in the bathroom. Food was decent but not the best that we ate in Rajhasthan. We also did a camel trip with themwhich was ok, I mean we saw all the sights and had great food out in the camp, but there is no desert camp like it says on some of their details. I think this has been sold to someone else. we stayed out in tents, which was fine but to be honest I just wasn't that impressed by the scenery and the camel part was about 10 mins on the first day and 30 mins on the next, don't get me wrong this was actually enough as it was so uncomfortable!

“Fantastic Fifu”

Fifu Guest House

Apr 6, 2008

we had 2 rooms on the 2nd floor which were beautifully furnished with great views over city. Each had a double bed, ensuite shower/loo, and a padded window alcove where our 8 & 9 year old daughters slept at no extra cost. Cost was 1500 rps each room.Restaurant and general lounging area on the roof (also with great views of the city) was very comfortable with a cool breeze despite the high temperatures. Food was good and reasonably priced with a choice of indian or western dishes eg pancakes, cereal. Tables were regularly cleaned with anti bacterial cleaner. We travelled with 4 children and this was a safe friendly home from home. Ideal for families or older travellers rather than low budget backpackers. The city is a 5 minute tuk tuk ride away (or probably 15 minute walk). Highly recommended.
